Mindful Shift - a conversation with Jennifer Iacovelli

    in Spirituality

Today I am so excited to be joined by author Jennifer Iacovelli who wrote the beautiful  Simple Giving - Easy Ways to Give Every Day - 40 Ideas to Make Your World a Better Place.  I recieved this book in the mail right after getting back from the 2015 Water Conference (more on that later!).  It was the perfect gift and way to restart my program.  I started Mindful Shift after taking a leadership course from Dr. Riane Eislers Caring Economics Program.  It got me to focus on what I really wanted to do and how to make a difference from a heart based place.  The phrase 'do what you love and find a way to get paid for it', or some versions of this, always sounds slightly off to me.  I am looking forward to talking to Jennifer about this and so much more!   Jennifer is more than a writer, she is a speaker and consultant.  She has worked in the nonprofit sector, handling communications and fund-raising, for more than ten years and writes about philanthropy on her blogs Another Jennifer and Simple Giving Labs.  As chief engagement officer of the Another Jennifer Writing Lab, Jennifer helps entrepreneurs, bloggers and nonprofits tell their story.  She writes for Mom Bloggers for Social Good as part of the Global Team of 200 and is a regular contributor to World Moms Blog and HuffPost Divorce.  Jennifer is also contributing author of the book The Mother of All Meltdowns.  Her work has been featured on GOOD, BlogHer, USAID Impact, Feed the Future, and the PSI Impact Blog.  She is based in Brunswick, Maine.  That is awesome!   I am looking forward to this!!   For more info check out Jennifers website at simplegivinglab.com or her book at tarcherbooks.com.   Peace and sparkles, Andrea

Is a Student Loan Meltdown Coming?

    in Business

Dan Macklin from student loan lender SoFi joins us in the basement to talk meltdowns. New data out recently shows that more students are in danger of defaulting on their loans than ever before (maybe as many as 23 percent of all loans currently in repayment!). Does this mean there's trouble around the corner similar to the housing crisis? What can be done?

Joe & Dan discuss possible government options AND what borrowers can do to try and stay current on their loans (or avoid them in the first place!).

Joe & OG share headlines about gold AND about a stop-loss train wreck. Suzanne Lucas, the Evil HR Lady, is back to talk about the upcoming holiday weekend in the USA and why you shouldn't use it as an opportunity to play "catch up" with work.

We answer your letter about parent loans for college AND share a listener review of theme park Holiday World. Is it as good as recent guest Robert Niles stated? Listener Scott shares his thoughts.

Of course, we have trivia, a television show review, and much more!

The conversation ranges from advoacy matters, the need for Autism education, understanding meltdowns, valuing oneself, supporting one another and recommending some good TV shows about Autism.  Join Jeanette and Sarah for their conversation. Please note: This is a prerecorded show so you cannot call in. Also, the show is the first time Jeanette has prerecordded using audio software.
