Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 985

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Melanie Jacobs-Davis from Monroe, Michigan, an abuse survivor who was a victim of rape at 7 years old and a survivor of domestic violence as an adult. Melanie is now an activist fighting against abuse. "I'm taking a tragedy and making it into something wonderful," she says, "so that everything I've been through, will not have been in vain." Melanie relates that she was unlucky in the stepparent department. Her stepmother performed unspeakable acts of verbal and psychological abuse, and her stepfather hated her. In third grade, she began spending a lot of time staying at the home of her best friend, Bessie. But unfortunately Bessie's stepfather, a large man of 280 lbs, began sexually assaulting them. This continued for a year until one night he went too far. "I couldn't keep the secret anymore," said Melanie. "I had to tell someone. I reached out to my fourth grade teacher, and she in turn notified the proper authorities." Her predator eventually accepted a plea deal and was convicted of 2nd degree Criminal Sexual Conduct with a person under the age of 12 with special circumstances. He got nine years. "The events that unfolded after that in my life were a direct result of the trauma I endured from ALL of the abuse I suffered from, not just the sexual abuse. I had zero self-worth, no self-confidence and I began using drugs regularly to escape the pain." She says "I ended up in one dysfunctional relationship after another until I finally met my ex-husband, to whom I almost lost my life". Eventually she realized things HAD to change. "I got myself sober all by myself and I fought, she says. "I fought like I've never fought before."

    in Relationships

In this Part Two Radio Show the conversation deepens, about how our powerless behaviors are NOT logical, and why we REALLY do them, as well as how to REALLY heal them.

Also we will look at how co-dependency, independency and interdependency work, and how to move through the different levels.

Also we investigate how we can not only up-level ourselves, but also the important relationships in our life, to a new level of "sharing power" instead of taking it or handing it over.

    Facades and Extreme Ultimatums

    in Entertainment

This week on Littany we will be discussing Day of Our Lives and The Bold and the Beautiful. A lot has happened this November and we can't wait to chat about it!

During the Days segement we will be chatting about all things Salem...including Paul's facade and his connection to Sonny. How will his arrival impact the already fragile Wilson? Speaking of arrivals, fans were thrilled to see Melanie Jonas return to the canvas this week however, it became apparent that like Paul, she isn't being upfront about exactly what landed her back in Salem. Where would you like to see her story go and with who? We will also be discussing Chad's descent into all things Dimera, the pieces of Jordan's secerets slowly coming together and Kate growing closer to Clyde despite the obvious red flags.

On The Bold and the Beautiful we saw Liam and Ivy take a big step in their relationship and Hope's not-so-subtle reaction to it. We also saw a major shift in Bill and Katie's relationship and a major twist in the Rick/Caroline/Maya and Ridge saga. Both Maya and Rick have gone through major character transformations and many fans have been sounding off on it. Love it or hate it, these shifts in character motives make for a great saga.

Join us during the show in our online chat or call-in. We can't wait to chat all things Salem and Forrester and look forward to hearing what fellow fans have to say about how things are shaping up on both shows.

    Co-dependency Checkup - Part One

    in Relationships

Because it is nearly the end of the year, this is a great time to reflect – to see where we are, and what we have grown through this year.

I believe a big part of that is checking in with where we are at with co-dependency. Are we still handing power over to things and people outside of ourselves, or are we more anchored into our own internal solidness?

“What Is co-dependency?” My definition of it is this: “trying to seek wholeness and internal peace from sources outside of self, rather than establishing those states within self”.

What this means is: we can feel empty, fragmented, afraid and powerless when things don’t go right, or life hasn’t turned out the way we wanted it to. We can get panicked and feel unsafe, and in this state we can hand our power over and make repeated choices which don’t serve us.

Co-dependency can be very serious. It leads us further away from integration of self (authentic powerfulness) and takes us down a slippery slope of disintegration of self (powerlessness) – especially if we continue to hold people and things outside of ourselves responsible for the state of our lives.

This radio show is a Part One deep spiritual journey into why we are co-dependent, the many ways that it manifests, and how we can shine light into our disowened parts in order to become a true Source to ourselves, rather than trying to gain false substitutes for love, worthiness and wholeness.
