The incredibly busy Ginger Murphy started her music journey early - studying both piano and cello before she was ten! A course of study in Cello performance at Northwestern University paved the way for absolutely golden opportunities. Ginger found herself touring and performing with presitgious ensembles and string quartets, culminating in the All American College Orchestra at Walt Disney World in Orlando. She was offered a position in the Disney Big Band - and that infused this eager musician with a love for all genres and styles of music. THAT inspired her to make a move to Los Angeles to pursue life as a studio musician. Because that became so wise a decision, Ginger gave a lot of thought as to how this positive path happened. And she gives her parents full credit for exposing her to Chicago public schools - which offered orchestral music programs when she was attending. She has given back so much to other students as a result. Even maintaining a studio in Los Angeles to mentor young artists on THEIR way :)
Ginger can be heard on so many musical projects that it's hard to list them ALL - we're talking over 200! Some of those with whom she has shared "space" include household names. Here's one of those names: she just finished the latest season of "The Voice." That's why she can do 12/22 on "Hybrid Jazz!" The places she has seen, the roads she has traveled, the contracts that she has put together for live events (for Peter Gabriel, Josh Groban, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra!) - it's all staggering. But almost nothing can compare to the satisfaction that she feels when she works with her multi-talented husband, Stevo Theard. Stevo and Ginger have created the Sun Soul Orchestra - and you'll hear tracks from this superior work when Ginger visits - on our "Christmas Show." :)
The Total Tutor Neil Haley will interview Mary Jean Teachman.
Mary Jean Teachman was born in Detroit, Michigan to Isabelle and George Dresbach. She went to the University of Detroit where she studied pre-law and mathematics. She married and had two children, Arthur Forrest Tull II and Valarie Tull. She later divorced, was single for 4 years, married Mort D. Lieberman and was then widowed after 18 years of marriage. She found love again with Dr. Gerard W. Teachman and has been married for 23 years. She had a successful career for eight years as a runway and print model and appeared in Vogue magazine.
A longtime activist, she started and ran a successful campaign-RABAC...”Real Americans Buy American Cars” in the late 70’s. She started the grass roots movement because the American auto industry was in a severe slump. Her idea was to help convince the American public to support the American car companies in their struggle against foreign imports and to save jobs. She distributed bumper stickers and gave interviews to the print and broadcast media. At one point, a representative from the Japanese government came to interview her because they felt threatened by this movement. Gradually the unions adopted the project, which developed into their “Buy American” campaign

With the release of the next Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominees, the Timmons Brothers reveal a list of names that could be labeled a Who’s Who in Rock ‘n’ Roll and all the artists share a common bond of not being inducted into its Hall of Fame. Although the number of artists not inducted is too numerous to give them their due in one show, the two rock historians (David and John) will explore voting patterns, possible biases (and some may be surprising), the philosophy of defining a Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame, and other music related hall of fames. The artists being ignored span four decades and include Paul Anka, Connie Francis, the Moody Blues, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Chicago, Grand Funk Railroad , Jethro Tull, ELO, Kool and the Gang, and you are encouraged to call in with others. While the topic stirs debate, this program will be a catalyst to continue the discussion.
