TEI 069: 4 reasons you should expand to an educational market

    in Business

Global Product Management Talk is pleased to bring you episode 069 of...

The Everyday Innovator with host Chad McAllister, PhD.

The podcast is all about helping people involved in innovation and managing products become more successful, grow their careers, and STANDOUT from their peers.

About the Episode: If you want your own BB-8 droid, you can buy one from Sphero, a company in Boulder, CO. BB-8 is the adorable droid in Star Wars, The Force Awakens.

Sphero fuses robotic and digital technology into an immersive entertainment experience. They make other droids besides BB-8. The original product is named after the company – Sphero. It is basically a white sphere a little lager than a pool cue ball that you control with your smartphone to roll around the room and play games with. I bought one after seeing it in a Discovery store.

In 2014 the company did something really smart – they started creating education curriculum that teaches kids how to code using a Sphero device. What started as a meetup for kids to learn about robtoics and coding is now an expanding library of free lessons for teachers and students. And, in the process of learning how to code, the lessons also teach about music, engineering, math, science, art, writing, and more. They have found a way to bring learning and playing together. This educational program is called SPRK (spark).

The product manager for SPRK is Bill Cullen and I had the pleasure of talking with him about the SPRK program.

In this interview, you will hear the benefits of incorporating an education market into your product plans, including…

    expanding the overall market,
    creating passionate customers,
increasing speed of innovation through community involvement, and
    adding community-generated products.

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1336

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Eva from the High Desset in California, a child abuse survivor who's dealt a lot with DID, dissociative identity disorder. The main cause of DID is believed to be severe and prolonged trauma experienced during childhood, including emotional, physical or sexual abuse. Eva, now 38, was born in Japan, and has since become an American citizen. After her grandfather passed away in 2001 things started to change in her life. Grief counceling eventually led her to understand how little she knew of herself! As she says, "I always had a vague sense of something wasn't quite right with me, and I had never felt happy for all of my life, as long as I could remember." She learned she was suffering from PTDS .. but there was more to it than that. "In 2002, I was diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder, more commonly known as Multiple Personality Disorder." She was scared and confused. "I think any child would be very scared if she was lost in an unfamiliar place with no one she knew around her. When I lost time, that's what if felt like - being a lost child." She's been healing since then, and now helps others. "I truly suffered alone. It was a long and lonely road to go through all by myself. And I don't want others who are living with DID to go through what I had to go through. That's why I started SoCal DID Meetup." Eva also offers her email address to anyone who wants help with these issues: AliveLovelyWhole@gmail.com

Our Visit 2 Amalgam Comics, Daredevil 2, Luke Cage Trailer & more The Grind@6pm

    in Politics Conservative

Harambee with a side order of cornbread, greens and salad (healthy!!) to our every expanding and loyal audience! Our regularly scheduled Saturday broadcast was preempted due to our appearance at the first annual Blackfinity Gauntlet podcast meetup held at the world famous Amalgam Comics in Philadelphia, PA.  But we are BACK and ready to discuss Blerd/Geek/Bleek matters today at 6pm EST.  Listen to your Podcast Enterprise Crew (Capt. Kirk, Claire Lanay, Dburt and The "Uncanny Daryll B.) as they unravel this week's latest pulp flavored topics: giving our impressions/highlights of the Blackfinity meet and greet in Philly;  Netflix' Daredevil, Season 2 makes it way to your Wi-Fi platform of choice; and speaking of Netflix, we finally get a skosh of the Luke Cage imprint, scheduled for release in September; The Root has a piece likening Marvel/Netflix' Iron Fist to Tarzan.

British Man of Steel (or is that UNCLE), Henry Cavill visits NYC's Time Square and goes unnoticed (wearing a Superman "t"); Ta-nehisi Coates' Black Panther #1 has 300K in pre-order sales (whoa...and the swag is forthcoming); with Jeremy Renner intimating that he would be open to a Hawkeye Netflix series, is the streaming service going to be the waystation for every other Marvel imprint?  And what Marvel IP could be worthy of a series? (where's DC's streaming service analog?).  Lastly, The Mission's Joseph Illidge affirms that he does not need a Miles Morales to appear in the highly anticipated Captain America: Civil War.

My eyes cross water to the gift of a symbol. It is a statue which represents freedom won at the cost of death...and while my studies in philosophy render such  a concept false, my experience with the nature of man dictates that fallacy is often truth-Shang-Chi
