In a recent article in the New York Times points out that between 2007 and 2012 there had been a 3 fold increase in medication shortages. We're not talking asprin, we're talking live saving and live sustaining medications like nitroglycerine and cancer drugs that forces doctors into horrible situations. They have to find alternatives that may not work as well, or that is a place holder until the right medication comes along. This is costly because people will need to be in treatment for so much longer.
Why do we have to be at the mercy of the big pharma and doctors? Can leading a healthier life eliminate the need for the medications? Do we have enough information on preventing cancer and other problems so we won’t have to rely on medications?
Those are the topics I’ll be pondering today on Cross Link Radio.

It is that time of the year again when it seems as though during the winter months, fleas, ticks and mosquitoes have been building their armies in anticipation of the Spring weather so they can launch their attack on your animal companions. Oddly enough, some have actually adapted to the weapons that have been used against them. Others have mutated so they are stronger and bigger. There are now so many new flea and tick medications on the market that it seems like an easy problem to solve. However, no one really thinks about the danger of these chemicals to our animal companions! If you live in a warm climate, year round, there is no relief from the cold weather that generally kills these parasites. They are a problem all year long. This also means that our animal companions require year long protection. Just how safe are these chemicals? What are the implications of the animals being given drugs that are often poisonous? Could some of the diseases and behavior issues be related to these products? In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to animal healer and animal communicator, Laura Lluellyn-Lassiter. Laura will provide talk about products that are not only organic but explain the use of electro-magnetic energy fields to eliminate these insects. She will also discuss the top ten flea myths, why the flea is such a fierce enemy, natural defensive strategies for animals in addition to defending the home environment, inside and out. How do you react to the incessant television ads for prescription medication, which insist you "ask your Dr. about whether you will benefit from a prescription for....."? Drug companies are brazenly (and legally) touting medications which, in many cases, has horrendous side effects that even prescribing doctors don't realize. Finally, someone who knows medications, knows the side-effects, and even has inside knowledge of the underhanded profit-motivated methods used by drug manufacturers, has written a book, Medication Madness, to inform us as fully as possible about what we can get ourselves into when we "pop a pill." Dr. Peter Breggin is a Harvard-trained psychiatrist, medical expert witness and author who "tells it like it is." His appearance will be followed by discussant, neurosurgeon Dr. Robert Fink
