INDIE REVIEW RADIO/ CHEF SHAWNEE / INDIE FOOD

    in Entertainment

Shawnee Braggs is an amazing caterer that has tantalized the taste buds of many a celebrity, political figure and foodie for over 10 years. Known for her creative dishes and exotic marriage of foods, she has become one of the most sought after caterer on both coasts.  Well one bite of a meal prepared by Shawnee Briggs and it just doesn’t matter. Some may say she is a cook because the food is prepared with such love and endearment that it’s as if you are sitting at Grandma’s table for Sunday dinner. Others may attest that she has to be a Chef because of the flawless presentation and the skillful manner in which she prepares her meals. Both would be absolutely correct.  Whether you are savoring the flavor of her pan seared Salmon or enjoying the warm and fuzzy feeling of her mac & cheese, you must attest, the food is AMAZING. There is something undeniably regal about her food presentation. At any given setting you can sample one of her signature dishes like fruit or shrimp on a bed of roses. These are attributed to her grandmother Rose, which she finds as a source of inspiration to this day.  Her ability to create art with her food has not gone unnoticed. Her catering company, Cater By Shawnee, brags of a client list of artists and celebrities the likes of Aretha Franklin, Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, Fifty Cent, Essence magazine, Malaak Rock, Dwayne Wade (Miami Heat), the Prime minister of Antigua and Wendy Williams (radio / television host) as a short list. She has been featured on FatBoy Radio, XM Satellite and was at one point a regular on the Wendy Williams Show and made The Network Journal’s 40 under 40 List. Shawnee’s hard work has not gone unnoticed.  She has garnered the attention of a major network and will be shooting a pilot for the show at the end of the month.

    in Women

The kitchen can be one of the most troublesome areas to get and keep organized in the home. It's often the center of life and the most used room in the whole house. In the kitchen you may: prepare food, eat, process paperwork, store various items, have family meetings, get the kids ready for school... Let's face it, it might be where the kids dump all their stuff when they come in the house, and it's could even be the most frustrating place in the whole house to be.

In this episode of Reclaiming Space, Tracy interviews Angela Arganoff, the Unclutter Angel, who gives us the nitty gritty when it comes to the kitchen and how you can reclaim that space in your home.

    @Ms_Terree aka The Frugal Foodie

    in Cooking

A little about me: I've been a finalist in a cooking demonstration competition, prepped and plated up food alongside some famous Food Network chefs, volunteered at large food and wine charity events, and judged at World Food Championships competitions in California and the Finals in Las Vegas. But my greatest passion is for quality food that doesn't bust the average family's budget!

I am not a vegetarian, but I do like to balance my diet by eating healthier during the week. So, I observe #MeatlessMondays and #FishFridays because it's not just healthy, but also economical (and good for the environment)! If you're a die-hard meat-eater like me, you won't give up meat for even one meal a week unless the dish tastes great. So I search out dishes where you don't feel like it's missing something or lacking flavor!

I will also talk about what you can do with things on sale, or re-purposing leftovers. I once fed a hungry group of 20 poker players a corned beef & cabbage dinner on St. Patrick's Day, (yes, mostly men) for only $20. And a few went back for second and third helpings!

I have met some very cool, fun people in the food industry, and I hope I'll be able to share their stories - -  starting with my own! I'll also tackle some of the food news or trends that pop up and share my take on these fads, while sharing information and recipes.

I have no formula set in stone about how this show will go moving forward, so if I get a lot of interest, I may address questions on air that you send to me! So please tell your friends about this show and let's have some fun while we save money!

Interview with Anna C. Morrison for The Green Gooey Goop

    in Books

A little girl is presented with a different sort of a meal when her mom serves her green gooey goop. Interesting and icky ingredients appear one by one as the little girl decides what's in this noxious-smelling concoction. The little girl creates a flood, and her dog's fur turns green. Suggested age range for readers: 0-8

This book was written to capture the moment when a child is confronted by healthy food that, while nutritious, may not appear to be delicious.  Many children react imaginatively to new foods, and the child in this book is no exception.  She envisions the ingredients as other than what her mother describes in the first part of the book in an attempt to get out of eating the food.  When she realizes she must eat it anyway, it spills onto the family dog, who may or may not be green forever!
I hope you enjoy starting a conversation with your child about the value of eating healthy foods that also taste delicious.  Thank you for reading Green Gooey Goop!

    Don't Date If You're Broke

    in Relationships

Some guys without a dime to their names approach women giving them their best game.  Because things are different in 2015, sometimes it works,  However, for those with standards, it does not.  I'm not saying you have to buy a woman's affection.  I am saying that if a couple wants to be able to enjoy themselves then the more disposable income they have the more opportunities.  The last thing most women want is to have to pay every time they go somewhere or not be able to go because he's broke.  However...

I'm not just speaking to the guys.  Don't date if you're broke goes for women, too!  Just because men traditionally take the lead doesn't mean that you can sit around and not contribute.  Sure, it takes money to look nice for your dates, but men don't want to feel like they have to buy your time.  That's exactly what will happen if you don't reciprocate now and then.  And I'm not talking about sex because if you think that sex is acceptable reciprocation for someone buying you a meal then you're a hooker.  Yeah, I said it.  So, don't complain if he eventually treats you like one.

These things and more on the Talk 2 Q Radio Show!  "No experts.  Just opinions."
