“Chamber CEO and forum moderator Cecil Russell reminded the candidates a few times that this was not a debate, but that did not stop some of the mayoral candidates from making attacks.” The Bee
Cecil Russell is not interested in a debate that might give voters information on who to vote for, and in the future he should not be allowed to control the timeclock and the “forum” to censor candidates.
“For instance, former mayor and mayoral candidate Carmen Sabatino accused Mayor Garrad Marsh of trying to reach a backroom deal with city and Modesto Irrigation District officials a few years ago to sell water to San Francisco. Marsh said the accusation was false.” The Bee
Marsh called Sabatino a “liar”. That remark will haunt him until November 3 even with the explanation of some Bee editors.,
Mayor Garrad Marsh and city manager Greg Nyhoff met with M ID chair Tom Van Groningen and CEO Alan Short to find ways to sell our water to San Francisco.
At the time Marsh said the water was only a, “drop in the bucket”.
Today, the people of Modesto use buckets to capture excess water while taking a shower.

CRIMINALS TESTIFY FOR FLADAGER
MAYOR MARSH SAYS HE IS NOT INVOLVED IN CARSON CASE
In March 2012, Romero saw a heavy-set, older man with “whitish hair” driving a truck pull up abruptly into the driveway her home shared with Cooley’s home. She said the driver got out of his pickup and went to Cooley’s home. “He came out really hostile, that’s when the yelling started,” Romero testified.
But she couldn’t identify the driver in court Thursday. She was asked to see if she saw the man who was driving the truck in the courtroom. She looked in the direction of the defendants, and told the prosecutor that she did not see the driver from that day.
The witness was reluctant to testify. Romero faces a felony charge of embezzling from an employer in an unrelated case. Under advisement from her attorney, Romero chose to invoke her right not to say anything in court that might be incriminating. She was granted immunity, which means anything she said in her testimony would not be used against her in the embezzlement case.
