WIIM Radio Live: Draft Recap and Free Agency Preview Edition

    in Hockey

made it through the draft and we're mere days away from the Red Wingslikely doing very little on July 1st as the NHL free agency period opens. It's the perfect time to have an episode of WIIM Radio.  We'll be broadcasting live on Monday, June 29th at 10pm EST over at our Blogtalk Radio page. We'll have Jeff, Graham, Kyle, and me on to talk things over.

    The topics we'll go over:

The Draft: Our own Kyle was in Florida for the draft covering the goings-on from the floor for us. We'll get his thoughts on how the Wings did as well as discuss a very busy weekend for trades.
Free Agency: The UFA crop this year isn't inspiring a lot of confidence, but there will still be plenty of guys to talk about.
Trades: Despite all the movement lately, there are still moves out there to be made. Will the Wings be active?
Summer Camp!: Development camp is only a week away. We'll be getting our first look at some of the kids whose names we just learned.
    and more!

Former Mayor to oppose new sales tax

    in News

Former Mayor Carmen Sabatino, who formed the No on measure X campaign is waiting for the title designation of the new tax proposed by the Modesto City Council.

Sabatino said, "I could not support a 1% tax, which would have given the Council $26 million a year to spend as they wanted. I won't support a 1/2% tax, which would give the Council. $14 million a year to spend as they want."

Mayor Marshshould come clean and honestly tell the voters that he wants the tax for police pay increases, but more important, the need to pay for police retirements.
