Tyler Perry's Passion of The Christ was a major cultural disappointment.

    in Entertainment

    http://www.rejesus.co.uk/site/module/faces_of_jesus/P2/

You would think that in the year 2016 after having a Black President who is loved by some but persecuted by most for no other reason then having Black Skin that Tyler Perry would have been brave enough to present "Christ" as he truly was. But once again the man who portrays the Black Matriarch and makes more money then most female actresses doing it has failed us miserably. While some may argue "Jesus Christ's color doesn't matter" They are either lying to you or lying to themselves. Of course color matters I didn't create racism but I understand it's power.

LORRAINE TOUSSAINT (Donna Rosewood of FOX TV's ROSEWOOD) Wednesdays 8ET

    in Entertainment

The Total Tutor Neil Haley will interview LORRAINE TOUSSAINT (Donna Rosewood on ROSEWOOD). She will discuss the season Premere of Rosewood.

For her role as the viciously seductive inmate “Vee” on the second season of “Orange Is The New Black,” Lorraine Toussaint won the SAG Award and Critics’ Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Toussaint also received praise both for her performance in the Academy Award-nominated feature film “Selma,” and her starring role on the fantasy-drama series “Forever.”

Joining Rosewood in his practice are his sister and “toxicology queen,” PIPPY (Gabrielle Dennis, “The Game”); and DNA specialist TARA MILLY IZIKOFF aka TMI (Anna Konkle, “Man Seeking Woman,” “Betas”), who is Pippy’s fiancée. Rosewood’s mom, DONNA (Lorraine Toussaint, “Orange is the New Black”), is on the cusp of some major life changes that will affect her children profoundly. A matriarch with a lot of strong opinions, Shirley holds family gatherings sacred and makes Rosewood’s love life a regular topic of conversation. Rounding out the cast is Miami PD’s CAPTAIN IRA HORNSTOCK (Domenick Lombardozzi, “The Wire”) who is a great team leader but is terrible at managing his own life. Hornstock and Rosewood have a complicated relationship: while he can’t stand Rosewood’s big personality and sunny disposition, he acknowledges Rosewood’s stellar contributions to the department.

2/24/16 w/guest Angela Flournoy author of "Turner House"

    in Books

Today's guest is National Book Award Finalist Angela Flournoy, author of "Turner House."

ANGELA FLOURNOY is the author of The Turner House, which was a finalist for the National Book Award and a New York Times notable book of the year. The novel was also a finalist for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize, the PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize for Debut Fiction and an NAACP Image Award. She is a National Book Foundation "5 Under 35" Honoree for 2015. Her fiction has appeared in The Paris Review, and she has written for The New York Times, The New Republic, The Los Angeles Times, and elsewhere.

    About The Turner House:

The Turners have lived on Yarrow Street for over fifty years. Their house has seen thirteen children grown and gone—and some returned; it has seen the arrival of grandchildren, the fall of Detroit’s East Side, the loss of a father.

The house still stands despite abandoned lots, an embattled city, and the inevitable shift outward to the suburbs. But now, as ailing matriarch Viola finds herself forced to leave her home and move in with her eldest son, the family discovers that the house is worth just a tenth of its mortgage. The Turner children are called home to decide its fate and to reckon with how each of their pasts haunt—and shape—their family’s future.

The Turner House brings us a colorful, complicated brood full of love and pride, sacrifice and unlikely inheritances. It's a striking examination of the price we pay for our dreams and futures, and the ways in which our families bring us home.
