Written and directed by young Regina, Canada, filmmaker Lowell Dean, WOLFCOP is a horror-comedy that follows Lou Garou (Leo Fafard), an alcoholic cop who tends to black out and wake up in unfamiliar surroundings. However, lately things have taken a strange turn. Crime scenes seem oddly familiar, Lou's senses are heightened, and when the full moon is out, he's a rage-fueled werewolf. WOLFCOP is one cop's quest to become a better man... one transformation at a time.
CineCoup’s debut feature film WOLFCOP -- selected in a worldwide competition to be their initial offering -- opened to sold out audiences across western Canada on June 6. As a result of its howling success, WOLFCOP will expand across Canada in Cineplex theaters on June 13th, which auspiciously happens to be the full moon AND Friday the 13th! In the midst of all this lunacy, the filmmakers have announced a WOLFCOP sequel, to be released in 2015.
“It is not often that Canadian films open to such high box office numbers,” says CineCoup Founder and CEO J Joly. “We used complete guerilla style grassroots marketing that focused on finding the film’s core audience to spread the word ... this truly is a coup for the future of independent filmmaking.”
Prior to WOLFCOP, Dean's best known work was the zombie flick 13 EERIE starring Katharine Isabelle.
LOWELL PYE BIO
With roots grounded in the Baptist church, Lowell Pye began singing at the very early age of four in a small four- walled church house known as First Fellowship on the west side of Detroit, Michigan. As the youngest member of the gospel quartet group known as “The Junior Echo’s”, Lowell never knew this humble beginning would pave the way for a lifetime of ministry in the world of gospel music. Lowell gained notoriety when he embarked on his season with John P. Kee and the New Life Community Choir in 1990. Though relatively unknown to the masses, Lowell soon became recognized as one the greatest and most distinguishable new voices in the gospel music industry.
God Said I Can radio Welcome Lowell Pye!!!!
President Barack Obama's good buddy MA Gov. Deval Patrick had led by two years for some time. He was first to a major office, first in overseeing universal health care, first in supporting and overseeing same-sex marriage. Now he is not running for a third four-year term, so he'll be first to vacate his office.
Like crows on carrion, candidates abound here. We'll update you on the issues and the shenanigans in that flurry. As background, you can check on our channel here or at Left Ahead's archives page for interviews with all but one of the candidates. The presumptive Republican nominee, Charlie Baker, has run and hidden from us, while all the Democratic, independent and the other GOP challengers have spoken with us. We may be simple minded, but doubt that cowardice or avoidance is a good qualification for office.
The best known Dem challengers are raking in bucks and sailing along. The second tier Dems plus the independents and the one (Evan Falchuk) who is kind of in a party with his new designation as United Independent Party sole candidate elbow for recognition.
The best fun has been on the Republican side, with pay-for-play scandal, accusations of chicanery at their state convention, threatened law suit, and core party members disgruntled at Baker's socially liberal positions. Augment all that with Baker's association with the Big Dig boondoggle and his scorched-earth background at a major health-care company. The jimmies on the sundae are Baker's loss to Patrick in his previous run for governor.
This promises to be a most entertaining double race — to the September primary and on to the November general.
A month before the murder of his wife, Nicole, O.J. Simpson posed for Margaret Susan Lowell in the living room of his Bel Air home. Lowell sketched his face, mixed paint to match his skin tone and then took photographs to aid her later. As she had done with dozens of players before him, Lowell did her preliminary work at the football player's home, then returned to her studio to complete the portrait. Some hang in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, and others in an alumni museum in the San Francisco Bay area. Margaret ticks off a list of who's who in football as she recalls the portraits she has done: 49ers Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott and Dwight Clark to name a few. John Maranz. Her father was a world-famous artist who painted Dwight D. Eisenhower, Winston Churchill and General Douglas MacArthur. She was hospitalized with a stroke that left her with no memory for 1 year. Her memory miraculously came back (to her doctors unbelief)! She is currently living at an assisted living center in Glendale, Ca. where she gives watercolor classes to the residents there, and is doing very well.
