Monday January 21, 2013 @ 8 PM Celebrate MLK Day with Iya Awofalola Darlene Dawson and Queen Mother Velma Banks.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was the 20th Century Prince of Peace who spoke out against social and political injustices. Call in 347-989-0180 to share and to listen to the discussion.
Dr. King showed courage in the face of dangerous conditions created by the government and private racists and economic deprivation powerbrokers. His book “Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community,”shared his vision of Beloved Community. We need to return to the wisdom of past to move forward into the future
After Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. endured the hardships of civil rights abuses like being jailed and beaten. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stll sood up for peace. He advocated for non-violence, when he could have pushed for hate and to do what was done to black people. Instead he embraced non violent resistance. Dogs were let loose as were police let loose upon non violent people. He stood his ground.
I have a dream...
Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King!
We must celebrate this Honorable Man daily by sharing the value of how important it is to give back. What is the meaning of life if we don't leave a legacy from which others benefit?
Our forefathers and mothers planted trees from which we gather fruit, and dug wells from which we quench our thirst. Cilvil Rights Activist marched for us, died for us and pleaded for our equality.
So what are we leaving behind for our communities today? What are we fostering in the minds of our Black children? How will we strengthen our famillies and our communities?
Fifty years ago, Dr. King's "I Have a Dream..." Speech debuted in Detroit and transformed a nation. Today, I join in that movement of teaching us all to evolve in our beliefs, values and purpose for elevation of our consciousness into the greatness that lies in the Human Spirit.
Our ancesters from Africa knew the power of connection to the Divine, and honoring the human-ness in each other. I invite you to remember the greatness of our people, and let's have conversations that inspires us all to take action to "Heal what's hurting our Black Community."
We are powerful, and we rise!
When I became a high school student I would listen to Dr. King as he spoke clearly concerning what was on his heart. I admired all the speech’s that I heard from him on the television. Afterwards I would take out my pen and paper to write a speech and I rehearsed it to myself at home. His speech was always the best, but that did not stop me from trying at home.
Today our country our national and the world Celebrate the life and great work of Rev Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
On October 14, 1964, King received the Nobel Peace Prize for combating racial inequality through nonviolence. In 1965, he and the SCLC helped to organize the Selma to Montgomery marches, and the following year, he took the movement north to Chicago. In the years leading up to his death, he expanded his focus to include poverty and the Vietnam War, alienating many of his liberal allies with a 1967 speech titled "Beyond Vietnam". King was planning a national occupation of Washington, D.C., called the Poor People's Campaign.

The latest on the border crisis and whether Congress will get a bill thru before their upcoming month long August recess.
The Court said the four words in the law that mean what they say are: "established by the state":
If you bought insurance from an exchange NOT established by the state, then you aren't entitled to a federal subsidy.
36 states refused to set up state exchanges. However the IRS made a ruling that every exchange can offer a subsidy...Not just those "established by the state"
4.6 M Americans receive subsidies. Two of largest states That dole out OBamaCare subsidies are FL and TX. The Average subsidy is $269 per month going to OBamaCare recipients who signed up for insurance to help pay their premium. The obvious assumption is that Without the subsidy from the Feds people wouldn't have signed up. Health care would be too expensive, so they would have just paid the fine for not having insurance which is set at $95 first yr.
Elizabeth Letchworth has the details, the back story and her predictions.
