A Book and a Chat with Mark Rubinstein

    in Books

Another fellow CT author in the shape of Mark Rubinstein is the guest on today's "A Book and a Chat". a physician, a psychiatrist, and assistant professor of psychiatry at Cornell University–writes rocket-paced suspense/thriller, stand-alone novels about people involved in life-and death struggles with forces they cannot control. The action in these plot-driven novels is brutal and realistic, but the novels brim with uspense because the characters are complex and conflicted and are often driven by their pasts when faced with the life-altering horrors of the present.
His latest book is "Mad Dog House"

    LOVE GONE MAD:

When heart surgeon Adrian Douglas and Megan Haggarty, RN, meet at the hospital where they work, neither has any idea of the scorpion's nest into which they've stumbled. Strange and frightening events begin happening to each of them; someone is after them both—and the stalker not only is brilliant and crafty but vows to exact revenge for the ultimate betrayal. As things spin out of control, Megan and Adrian fight for their lives.

When a spine-tingling trial for attempted murder is resolved, things return to normal—or so it seems. But more chilling surprises await the couple as Love Gone Mad rockets to a conclusion that brings the legal, medical, and psychiatric communities to their knees.

"Mark Rubinstein's Love Gone Mad is a beautifully crafted suspense novel. The characters are people you care about, the story is fast-paced and cleverly plotted, and the dialogue is on-point. Let me warn you, though. This book is Stephen King scary. Some of the scenes were so intense I found myself wanting to get up and go check the locks on my doors and windows."
—Scott Pratt, bestselling author of the Joe Dillard series

Author Mark Rubinstein Talks Heart Pounding Thrillers

    in Books

Author Mark Rubinstein joins host Stephen Campbell in this episode of Murder, Mysteries and Mayhem.  Mark is the author of two heart pounding thriller novels, the most recent of which, LOVE GONE MAD, was released earlier this month.     LOVE GONE MAD, which has been called, "a beautifully crafted suspense novel," and "Stephen King Scary, has garnered wildly positive reviews on Amazon.com with a 4.8 out of five star rating.   Mark graduated from New York University with a degree in business administration. He then served in the army and ended up as a field medic tending to paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was so taken with these experiences that after his discharge, he re-entered NYU as a premed student.   He entered medical school at the State University of New York’s Downstate Medical Center. As a medical student, he developed an interest in psychiatry, discovering in that specialty the same thing he realized in reading fiction: every patient has a compelling story to tell.    In addition to his writing, Mark is a board-certified psychiatrist practicing in New York City.  He is also a regular contributor to Psychology Today and to the Huffington Post.   You can learn more about Mark at his website, http://markrubinstein-author.com/.   You can learn more about Stephen Campbell at his website.

    THE FOOT SOLDIER:

Right after college graduation, Costa, a lower-middle-class kid from Buffalo, New York, is drafted into the US army and plunged into the Vietnam War. The Foot Solder catapults the reader back to the conflict that changed America.

This is a compelling novella of morality—right or wrong in a split second in the hell of the jungle—when it really matters, regardless of rank, military orders, or rule books. It asks how a soldier survives, how he deals with dislocation, and how he reacts when given an order that defies everything he’s ever believed about the human soul.

    LET'S WRITE WITH FRAN LEWIS

    in Books

Four eastern, three central and two mountain: Let's Write with your host Fran Lewis is a new show that will focus on the art of writing itself. On this first show we will talk about how the three novelists create their storylines for revolving or reoccuring characters and they they manage to keep reader interest. What is the difference between writing a trilogy or three book series as opposed to having one or several characters in a series? How do they create open ended endings that lead into the next book? How do they create conflict for the main characters and which minor characters support the main characters when solving the main conflict or problem that the author has created? How do these authors create the murder scene or the crime scene and how do you decide on your vicitm or victims? When ending chapters do they tend to lead into the next one or is there a change of scenery, setting and plot line. These and many other questions and writing tips will be answered when New York Times Best Selling Author John Lescroart, Award winning author Mark Rubinstein and Award winning author Mary Martin join me, Fran Lewis to discuss the art of writing. Let's Write welcomes questions from authors and writers in the chat room. Fran Lewis: Editor of MJ magazine, author of the Bertha series and Faces Behind the Stones Series.
