This week Mr.London and CarlTheMadman welcome the owner of the Maximum Fighting Championship Mark Pavelich to talk MFC 40 and beyond. Then we're leaving the world of combat sports behind and going to kick back with YouTube sensation and urban explorer AdamTheWoo. This is going to be an episode beyond all expectations! Stealing Adam's catch line, "Join us, shall you"
Maximum Fighting Championship CEO Mark Pavelich will join the broadcast tonight in the first hour. Pavelich will give us the latest news on the MFC, a wildly popular Canadian MMA league, and their upcoming October 3rd event in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada: MFC 41. Tom, Tony, and Rich also recap UFC Fight Night 51, Bellator 124, and Floyd Mayweather, Jr.'s defensive day at the office against Marcos Maidana in their uneventful rematch. We will chat with MFC Fighter Marcus "Bad Intentions" Edwards (8-2) in the second hour, as he prepares for his opportunity to headline MFC 41 against Tom "Da Tank" Galliccio (19-8). We'll also try to squeeze in the upcoming combat sports events and some news from across the combat sports landscape.
Bloody Elbow Radio, presented by Bad Boy, will be live to preview UFC Fight Night 40. We'll be joined by MFC president Mark Pavelich and MFC middleweight champion Sam Alvey.
Our first guest might have one of the wildest stories on how he got to this point in his career. Jason “The Mover” South wasn’t a high school football player, he didn’t wrestle, he was just a normal guy. It wasn’t until he was 30 that he first stepped onto the mat and that was because his mother in-law bought him a one month pass. Jason weighed 215 lbs and his first class was getting owned by another 135 lb student, let’s just say that was it he was hooked. Our next guest not only walked away with the first ever win in the MFC Bantamweight division in his last fight, but with his upcoming fight he won the fan vote to headline MFC 38 and a chance to become the first ever MFC Bantamweight Champ. Anthony Birchak is back on the show and if you remember we had him on before his last fight. We will talk with Anthony about not only fighting and winning the first ever Bantamweight match up in MFC history and now getting a shot as the first Bantamweight Champ in the promotions history. It wouldn’t be right to do a Maximum Fighting Championship show without having the man behind the show on. Mark Pavelich kicks off the second hour and you know you are in store for a treat anytime the Godfather of Canadian MMA is in the Barber Shop. MFC is putting it all on the line at MFC 38 with 3 title fights happening on October 4th, 2013. We will talk to Mark about the card and have him give us his thoughts on the 3 title fights and having 3 title fights all happen on the same night.
MMA Cypher Radio is back, baby!
At 7:00 p.m. ET, hosts Jason Kelly (Twitter: @JayMMADieHards) and Corey Charron (@charronkotd) welcome MFC president Mark Pavelich and MFC bantamweight champ Anthony Birchak to the show.
Pavelich (@MarkPavelich) is coming off a successful show at MFC 39, which took place Friday in Edmonton, Alberta, and he is already set for MFC 40. Aside from gearing up for his 15th year in the sport, the MFC president recently made comments that 2014 is a do-or-die year. With Toronto and Las Vegas in Pavelich’s sights this year, the Canadian promoter has announced that he will walk away from the sport if he does not conquer certain goals before the year’s end.
Birchak (@abirchakmma) is everything a budding MMA superstar should be. Along with holding the MFC bantamweight belt and putting on two outstanding performances in the MFC cage, Birchak is ever improving and proven company man. The Arizonian will defend his title at MFC 40, but as Birchak often shares on MMA Cypher, we will surely hear about his family bout that is ongoing with his brother, who happens to be a standout NCAA wrestler.
We will also preview and review the latest in the MMA world, as well as talk about “KOTD: Blackout 4,” which is a rap battle tournament MMA Cypher’s own Charron will compete in on Jan. 24-25 at the Opera House in Toronto, Ontario.
