How Dark is Dark? -- Write Stuff -- 10/28/2014

    in Radio

I mentioned this before but the Write Stuff is an avenue for the low totem pole authors of the Christian fiction genre -- speculative fiction. The kind of Christian fiction where author use werewolves, vampires, fairies, time travel, multiple universes, string theory, and other 'taboo' items among mainstream Christianity to bring about either a gospel message or theme or to tell a good story.

Speculative fiction asks the ‘what if’ questions, the kind that teases our minds with all sort of probabilities and perhaps more questions. Sometimes, the themes discussed this sort of fiction travels down a dark road...a tunnel even.

On today's show, we are going to talk author Mark Carver as he discusses his series about a world so dark, it seems impossible to even have a pinprick of light in it. The topic is sensitive enough that some Christians may be abhorred by it but I would ask the question -- is there anything so dark that God's light cannot penetrate it?

    I AM MORNING GLORY

    in Christianity

35In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there. 36Simon and his companions searched for Him Mark 1:35-36

    I arise today
    embraced in the arms
    of God the Father,
    empowered by the strength
    of God the Spirit,
    immersed in the love
    of God the Son.
    I arise today
    in the company
    of the Trinity,
    Father, Spirit and Son.

  • Inside the War Nest #10

    in Sports

O Holy Night? Well, it should be . . . except Jim Williams and “Frat House Mike” McShane are breaking down, analyzing, crying, whining, and screaming about this past week’s developments with the Philadelphia Eagles on the latest edition of Inside the WarNest.

Three weeks ago, the Eagles had a 90+% chance of making the playoffs. Today? They’re making vacation plans! How in the world did this happen . . . and HOW did they possibly lose to the Washington Redskins? It really didn’t appear to be a bad game plan; so did penalties and two missed field goals seal their fate?

Chip Kelly says the Birds have to go win a tenth game against the New York Giants this week, but does it really matter? Who cares?

Well David Aitken, Giants staff writer for TheGiantsBeat.com, DOES and he joins the program to talk about this week’s G-Men – Eagles match-up; the team’s three game winning streak; the future of Tom Coughlin; and more

Pour yourself another eggnog and share an hour of Christmas Eve with Jim and Mike. Get into the fray. Commiserate and rant along with them . . . AND give them a call at 347 – 826 – 9964!

Sunday School lesson for the week of 12-28-2014 from Matthews 14:22-33

    in Christianity

The 14th chapter opens with Herod attempting to explain Jesus, ''This is John the Baptist, he is raised from the dead; that is why these powers are at work in him.''  John said, ''it is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife''. John was bounded put in prison and beheaded after a drunken birthday revelry. John's disciples got the body and buried it and told Jesus. Jesus withdrew in a boat to a lonely place for privacy. The people followed; he fed 5,000 the disciple wanted to send them away.

Jesus put his disciples in a boat v 22 dismissed the crowds...went to pray privately, v 23. V 24: Jesus tarried...the  disciples toil the boat was ''tossed'' by ''a great wind that blew'' John 6:18. Between 3 to 6 a.m.in the night, 3 1/2 miles out, ''Jesus came unto them walking on the sea'' v 25. Mark 6:48: "would have passed by them''; V 26, they thought him to be a ''ghost'' or a ''spirit'', they were ''afraid''. V 27: Jesus spoke, ''Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid''. Peter answered v 28, "Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water''. ''Jesus said 'come' and Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water'' v 29. V 30; He lost his faith...begin to sink; V 31...O thou of little faith why did thou doubt?''; V 32...the wind ceased. V 33 after they had church, ''the boat was at the land to which they went' John 6:21.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS: JESUS IS COMING!

    in Religion

Merry Christmas Jesus is coming! People often ask ..."How do you know Jesus is returning again soon"? I respond, "How do you know he (Jesus) isn't returning again soon?  When? Soon, shortly after Israel is finished buliding the 3rd Temple in Jerusalem. Biblical prophecy will be fullfilled. Glory to God in the highest! People, doubters, skeptics, atheists, etc. like to try and argue over "when" is Jesus coming? In order to make Christians look like fools. But even Jesus Christ himself said..."no man knows the day or the hour except the Father which is in heaven"... All the Biblical signs are there in the moon, in the stars, in the heavens, war & rumors of war, pestilence, diesease all the signs Jesus spoke about that would preceed his return are coming to pass. Sadly millions will look at Jesus Christ's return in a negative light because these people often are "Jesus haters" and also the richest, wealthiest, worldliest, most materialistic, immoral and cardinal minded people there are. All their money, power, and worldly fame will not be able to stop The King of Glory!
