Les Thatcher became a professional wrestling fan the first time he watched the action on a friend’s television in 1949 at the tender age of eight years old. The beginning of his life in pro wrestling began at what may have been the first Pro Wrestling School in America. Les read about Tony Santos, a promoter in New England, and his wrestling school based in Boston, Massachusetts in a 1959 issue of Wrestling Revue, then the top magazine in the industry, and after writing back and forth he climbed on a Greyhound Bus in February 1960 and traveled to Boston to begin what has been a 44 year love affair with professional wrestling. As a wrestler his career spanned 20 years from July 4 1960 when he stepped into the ring as a pro for the first time against “Cowboy” Ronnie Hill in Blue Hills, Maine. As a broadcaster, Les shared the microphone over the years with hall of famers such as Gordon Solie, Bob Caudle, Lance Russell, and Jim Ross. The very first ever four color WWWF magazine was designed and edited by Thatcher for Vince McMahon Jr. in 1978.As a trainer/teacher for the last ten years Les opened Les Thatcher’s Main Event Pro Wrestling Camp in Cincinnati in 1995 and an “off shoot” of that is the Heartland Wrestling Association which during that period was considered one of the top independent promotions in the country. From 1998 through 2001 HWA promoted the famous “Brian Pillman Memorial Shows” bringing WWF, WCW, and ECW together under the same roof on the same night for the first time in wrestling history.
On this edition of The VDown, we welcome DDP Yoga warrior Kal-El Skylander or also known as, Eric Young. Inspired by his dad, Eric has been into fitness his whole life. Weight training and martial arts were his bread and butter. So it came as a shock when his doctor told him that he was going to die. High cholesterol levels and other issues were damaging his body. He had to do something different. His wife then told him to try this yoga she found. Eric was skeptical but was blown away when she told him that it was done by Diamond Dallas Page. Being a wrestling fan Eric checked it out right away. Within six months of doing DDP Yoga, his labs had all normalized. (Information courtesy of The Team DDP Yoga Experience Podcast with Ross Raymond, www.RossRaymond.com)
So tune in on Tuesday, April 28th and listen to Eric's story and get inspired to own your life. Brave Williams from R&B Divas L.A. Debuts her New Hit single " Road Trippin '
Brave Williams embraced her musical talents, having already started her musical career when cast as a Lead Singer for the MTV Reality show, P. Diddy’s Making The Band. Although she was subdued from the reality show by the struggle of her father’s diagnosis of prostate cancer and early signs of dementia, her talent was still destined for success, which she earnestly grappled for.
After three years of development and hard work, Brave co-founded an all-girl group which she named Richgirl. Richgirl landed a major deal with Jive Records. The group instantly created Billboard hits including their first singles “24’s” and “He Ain’t Wit Me Now.”
In 2009 Brave and the group toured as the opening act for Beyoncé’s “I am Sasha Fierce” tour. “Richgirl’s” success continued with national performances including the main acts for the Burger King Summer tour and T-Mobile tour, succeeded by the release of their third single “Swagger Right” featuring Rick Ross and Fabulous. Now in 2015…. Bigger, Better and Braver….
Brave is working on her own project: forming an iron-clad team, writing her own songs and taking the creative lead on treatments for her music videos – she is controlling her own career destiny. She is tenacious in her pursuit of dominating the performing arts industry, securing roles in both television and film landing the lead in Omarion’s M.I.A. music video, the role of Bambi on BET’s “The Get Up”, and a featured singer in TLC’s “Crazy Sexy Cool” film on VH1.
Some great questions answered on today's program, including the one in the title...but also how to transform "No" into an unsolved problem.
