Welcome to the latest episode of our Mid Week in Review show currently under the auspices of Afronerd Radio. Don't forget to set your calendars and clocks for this Wednesday at 7:30pm when your hosts, Dburt and Captain Kirk unravel the following current event laden mysteries (no "Scooby snacks required): in the ultimate case of reefer madness- we attempt to compare the intelligence quotients of an Alaskan news reporter versus a UPS worker losing their jobs over their love for the Wacky Tobacky; British Afropunk/Urb-Alt artist, FKA Twigs receives racist tweets from "Twilighters" who dislike her dating actor, Robert Pattinson; an unquestionable case of police misconduct gets caught on dash cam and an officer goes to jail; more revelations relating to last week's breach in White House security; as if the NFL didn't need have enough PR woes, a new report from the Department of Veterans Affairs’ brain repository, 76 out of the 79 deceased NFL players examined were found to have suffered from CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) brain disease; Dburt notes that his casual obervance of the foibles of the millennial generation are proving to be truer and more quantifiable than ever; NYC's first lady, Chirlane McCray is in the middle of a PR nightmare because of her assistant's personal life and lastly, a podcast highlighting the Dr. John McWhorter penned New Yorker magazine piece on jazz great, Louis Armstrong reminds us of the immortal adage, "the more things change, the more things stay the same." I am more than amused by the prospect of a battle of wits ... though I fear that with you as an opponent... the struggle might well be brief-Victor Von Doom
Imagine the the ultimate "Fall Fashion Runway on the Bridge" constructed with safe, sturdy, and strong elevated runway for the model. Absolutely, no ridiculous, unsafe, and dangerous high heel shoes, but upscale designer shoes, boots, and accessories of distinction, class, and caliber. With vendors on both ends, special arranged seating for the audience, spotlights, Jazz music [selectively chosen], African Drums, and Opera music for evening and bridal scenes. The fall season is my favorite season because the colors are bold, rich, and colorful along with the tailored fashion trends. I fancy shawls, gloves, shoes, beautiful hats, bags, jackets, suits, and the best styles. When the models take the runaway - they each own the runway with the purpose of profiling the designer. The second they take center-stage the runway is their world for that walk! Gold accessories are on the rise, and I am loving the trend. My favorite accessories are diamond studs because I personally prefer simple elegance thats with the tailored essence. The tailored look is timeless and transition very well from generation to generation, and from trend to trend. Yes, I love diamond stud earrings, pearl studs, cultured pearls, but the bracelets combined with the diamond tennis bracelet is my fashion fun! My favorite color is deep navy blue with a long extra long pure white shawl. Fashion from India excites my fashion style! One new scene I hope to spotlight is "The Lounger." Living and entertaining guests requires for the host to compliment the event, environment, and the engagement of people. The host must represent the elegance of the fashion inside the estate. This show is going to be a blast from the runway on the bridge, greetings in the gathering room, Kitchen, formal dining, to the billiard room, outdoor living, to the pool watch the host pack the fashion.
Steve and Dana will be talking with Rawmazing.com founder, Susan Powers, who has combined her talents as a raw food recipe artist and professional photographer to build a thriving and profitable online business. They will talk about why Susan started this particular business, what she did differently to make a name for herself quickly, and some of the pivots she's had to make along the way.
A Minnesota native now living in San Francisco, Susan was involved with food and wine for years as a trained sommelier. Gourmet food and wines were a part of her every day lifestyle, and meeting and working with top chefs and studying classical french cooking along with many other cuisines, inspired Susan's passion and creativity for food. It also led her down a path to excess weight, general fatigue and other symptoms that she knew were associated with her diet. Susan's body was seriously rebelling and she decided to do something about it.
When Susan found raw, she was energized by this whole new way to prepare and eat food, and learning this way of life was fun. She tried some of her own recipes and experienced a lot of failure, so instead, she learned how to prepare raw food using every cookbook she could get her hands on. Reading about raw, the health benefits, and the principles behind this way of eating became an obsession. And she decided to turn what she was learning into a business that would make money while helping others improve their lives through healthier eating.
Rawmazing.com is filled with mouth-watering recipes and gorgeous photographs, along with in-depth articles and an online store where you can buy Susan's cookbooks and the same products she uses every day in her kitchen.
My kitchen explorations are my life and my life is food! I like to do a fusion of old and new- Learning recipes is great but learn technique and its grand!

It's hard to argue with a plant-based diet when it benefits our waistline, wallet, and the well-being of our planet. Bestselling vegan cookbook author, Nava Atlas, joins us to share her most popular recipes, plant-based kitchen tips and the ultimate time-savers for vegans from her new book, “Plant Power.” As the founder of VegKitchen.com, the leading web resource for vegans and vegetarians alike, she busts the myth that cooking vegan meals is more complicated and less flavorful.
The relationship between health and food is not a new idea. As Hippocrates, the father of medicine, said in 460 BC, "Let food be thy medicine." Armed with the belief that a plant-based diet is essential to our well-being, Nava shares fun, flavorful recipes like Asian favorites and tortilla specialties.
While you don’t have to know how to whip up a 5-course meal from scratch at a moment’s notice, Nava will share her solution to the dinner dilemma meal planning. (You’ll probably also learn that cooking can be pretty joyful, too!) No longer only for those with unlimited free time, Nava gives us easy make-ahead tips to help you eat well even on your busiest days.
Aside from the scrumptious recipes Nava will share, what is ultimately important is the overall message: it is time to begin to be more mindful of what, why and how you are eating for your health and well-being.
Have you ever wanted to get into the kitchen, but didn't know where to start?

Damian Legion and Duckie met on the set of Masterchef 4 where they had the privilege of cooking for Joe Bastianich, Grahm Elliot, and Gordon Ramsay as part of the illustrious top 100. Though their ride ended earlier than they had hoped, the experience drove them to create the most fun, and most brash cooking show of all time.
So please, join Damian and Duckie as they talk life, food and whatever random shit they feel like. Come listen to a fat man and his hot Asian friend talk about food. Raise your home cooking game with DMD Culinary!
