WORLD WIDE AFRICA THE VOICE OF THE PAN AFRICAN MOVEMENT

    in Politics

"Asa Philip Randolph was about ten when a group of solemn, angry men arrived at his Jacksonville, Florida, home one afternoon. They wanted to see his father, Reverend James William Randolph.  The reverend gathered the men in the family's sparse living room, and they told him what had happened.
A black man had been locked up in the Duval County jail and angry white men were muttering about hanging him without a trial.  Such hangings,  known as lynchings, were terribly familiar to black people, particularly in the South.  But the city of Jacksonville had a tradition of African American pride; the black men gathered in Randolph house were not willing to tolerate lynching.  Guns packed, they were prepared to encircle the jail and greet the white mob with force. They wanted the reverend to join them.
The Randolph's kept two guns in the house, a Bulldog pistol and a shotgun. James Randolph handed his wife the shotgun, took the Bulldog for himself and headed for the Jail. Elizabeth Randolph, a dead shot, kept the gun cradled across her lap for the rest of the night.  The Reverend returned home at dawn, exhausted but relieved.  When the lynch mob was confronted with the jail's armed defenders they wisely backed down."  A. PHILIP RANDOLPH and the AFRICAN AMERICAN LABOR MOVEMENT by Calvin Craig Miller.

Paranormal Mysteries: What Happened To ELisa Lam?

    in Paranormal

    Friday, February 5th  10pm ET / 9pm CT / 7pm PT

There are mysteries that are so eerie and strange that they boggle the mind for days on end. The case of Elisa Lam is one of them. In February 2013, this 21-year-old student from Vancouver, Canada, was found dead inside the Cecil Hotel’s rooftop water tank in Los Angeles.

The L.A. County Department of Coroner ruled the death “accidental due to drowning” and said no traces of drugs or alcohol were found during the autopsy. However, there is much more to the story than what is implied by police reports.

Join Luci and Anthony on the Anniversary of her death as they reveal some of the facts from the case, history of murder, suicide and paranormal activity at the hotel, and some interesting findings about Elisa and the hotel surroundings. It will be a night of mystery and suspense!

    in Lifestyle

NORTH FLORIDA WRITER LIVE WILL PRESENT PART TWO OF PLUM CREEK TIMBER: THE REST OF THE STORY, FEATURING GEORGE SIBLEY'S PRODUCTION FOR THE SIERRA CLUB OF PLUM PUDDING ON FRIDAY.  IT WILL CONTINUE THE EFFORTS TO QUESTION A MAJOR DEVELOPMENT BY A LARGE REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT TRUST IN FRAGILE, WET AND RURAL NORTH FLORIDA. CITIZENS BECOME AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND BEGIN TO ORGANIZE TO IMPACT WHAT IS UNFOLDING. WILL THEY BE SUCCESSFUL IN ULTIMATELY ACCOMPLISHING SOMETHING POSITIVE FOR LOCAL RESIDENTS OF THE AREA OR WILL THEIR EFFORTS BE TO NO AVAIL? WELL, WE'LL JUST HAVE TO WAIT TO SEE HOW IT ENDS UP.

THIS IS NOT AN INDICTMENT OF DEVELOPMENT, FOR WE ALL KNOW THAT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND JOB GROWTH IS NECESSARY FOR AN ECONOMY TO FUNCTION EFFECTIVELY, BUT THERE IS A CATCH WITH THE APPROACH IF IT ISN'T TEMPERED TO A DEGREE. WHEN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ECONOMICALLY DESTROYS THE NEARBY NEIGHBORS, IT'S NOT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AT ALL. IT'S ECONOMIC DISASTER.

THE SHOW WILL RUN AT 6 PM (ET) FRIDAY AND THEN BE AVAILABLE ON DEMAND 24/7.  WE HOPE YOU'LL JOIN US.
