Voices of South Africa with Don

    in Politics Conservative

They say by middle age you should have settled down and have gone around the block a few times, repeating the same year every year. For me it has been more a case of getting up on the block and falling off it or finding another one again and again and thus having 30 different years over the past 3 decades. This has given me a unique insight.

Born in Benoni near Johannesburg back in the 60’s my mother, a single parent with 3 boys, was hard at work finding a replacement father, while we were fed by family, friends and church. We brought ourselves up playing in the fields, streets and dams of the greater residential area, something you could do quite safely then. Although Afrikaans, we were sent to English school which was walking distance as there was no money for bus fare to the Afrikaans school. In those days of Eurocentricity it was considered a wise thing by some.

I discovered what steak was at age 14 when my Mother remarried, and saw TV for the first time as television was introduced into SA despite Apartheid’s best efforts. We moved to the Cape and after high school, I had to do my compulsory military service as there was no money for further studies.  University was not free in Apartheid SA and cost the price of a house then.

Like most of us, the two years in the army was bittersweet. You’re glad you had the experience but would have preferred not to even though you knew it was good for you. I spent three quarters of it up on the border (South West Africa and Angola), driving tanker trucks with aviation fuel and diesel to wherever the helicopters and tanks needed them.

Back in civvy street the only choice was to get a job to pay rent and buy food. There was no safety net or grants in Apartheid SA. By age 23 I was awarded a Singer Franchise which was shortlived as the local monopoly supermarket chain decided to enter that market too and I became another small business destroyed by big business.

    Breakthrough Revival "Lord Save Me"

    in Christianity

Hezekiah, in the midst of his triumphs in the favour of God, and over the forces of his enemies, is seized with sickness, and under the arrest of death. We must therefore always rejoice with trembling. It should seem he was sick of the plague, for we read of the boil or plague-sore, 2 Kings 20:7. The same disease which was killing to the Assyrians was trying to him; God took it from him, and put it upon his enemies. Neither greatness nor goodness can exempt us from sickness, from sore and mortal sicknesses. Hezekiah, lately favoured of heaven above most men, yet is sick unto death - in the midst of his days (under forty) and yet sick and dying; and perhaps he was the more apprehensive of its being fatal to him because his father died when he was about his age, two or three years younger. “In the midst of life we are in death.”

    Interview with Bachata Artist @OfficialLYNX!

    in Music

Lynx is a bachata artist from the Bronx, who believes in writing original compositions in order to bring fresh and exciting material to the public.  However, he is not your typical bachatero.  Lynx debut single, "Máscara" infused bachata with opera and his most recent single off of the album, "Somos Uno", is about the importance of love and equality for people with special needs; a song he dedicated to his youngest brother Leonardo who is autistic and blind.  This album will also introduce a type of bachata Lynx calls, "dark bachata", with the single, "Pena de Muerte"; the song tells the story of a murderer on death row, pleading for God's salvation and battling his inner demons.  Lynx's story is both unique and intriguing and I think that your audience would really enjoy what he brings to the table.

CUTV News Radio spotlights Renee Maira of Maira Moon Consulting

    in Motivation

Wadsworth, OH – Every one of us has some form of intuition, that inner voice and guidance system. Every one of us can access this power, but it’s not enough to simply tap into our intuitive energy. To truly begin to see life though our heart, we have to trust it, too.

Renee Maira is a Holistic Bio-Energetic Synchronization Therapist and the founder of Maira Moon Consulting, specializing in transformational coaching and integrative vibrational medicine.

“Every person has an energy field around their body,” explains Renee. “Imbalances and stress induced energy cause the body to become divided. Integrative Bio-Energetic medicine means no element separates body, mind and spirit. A practitioner can renormalize the body’s energy so that the patient feels more centered, refreshed and revitalized. That is what a person with these types of gifts has to offer.”

Renee discovered her intuitive abilities following a near-death experience. After her accident, she says she became much more sensitive to her intuition and more connected to her true self.

“I do have to say that this is their attraction,” laughs Renee. “They are intimately drawn to it because it gives me the opportunity to express the unknown to them and help them begin to think deeper into their soul.”

As a transformational coach, Renee takes you to that core, your deepest spiritual belief. Your core has to be healthy for you to find the solutions to your problems whether they be your relationships, business direction or your life’s purpose.

“What we want is already in front of us,” says Renee. “All we have to learn how to do is become more aware and control our thought vibrations. What we think is what we become."

LatinoTalk Texas 2015, 0006 Republicans Pander to Tea Party Bigotry

    in Politics

On today's show I focus on the Republican function of the odious and horrid anti-Latino bigot, Steve King, Republican congressman from Iowa. His function, co-sponsored by the Tea Party, featured Republican presidential hopefuls who sought to pander to the white supremacist tastes of the Tea party and Steve King. But first I discuss how recently there were Pro-Life rallies across the nation and in Washington DC and I contrast that Pro-Life agenda and the commentary made by those rally attendees who remark that "Life is a gift" which is fully correct and compare that with the conduct and the remarks of the Culture of Death, among which is the Tanton network of anti-immigration and white supremacist organizations. Which leads us back to Steve King, who along with Jeff Sessions, Ted Cruz and Rand Paul are all ardent advocates of the Tanton Network and their anti-immigration agendas. It is shocking to me also that the Tea Party types claim to be "Pro-Life" while they take their guidance from the culture of death organization, Tanton Network, and use horrible terms like "anchor baby" and I've actually heard them say things like, "You can have your baby, just not here (in America). I go on to read an article by an author in Iowa who reports that Iowa no longer picks winners but only picks Republican losers since Steve King took the leadership there. I agree and am glad someone has pointed it out. In contrast, Jeb Bush stayed away from this function and continues to tout a campaign based upon CIR and Education Reform. I'm glad and point that no one running for President now, either GOP or Democrat is also doing so. I assert that the Bush campaign will serve as a fulcrum or wedge inside the GOP and will soon demonstrate which direction the GOP will go: With the Tea party and failure or away from them and back to the Latino embrace.
