When your average doe-eyed, naive boxing card moves to Hollywood with delusions of being an entertaining, enthralling affair, yeah... Usually they fall short, but at least they gave it an honest effort. But this whole Manny Pacquiao vs Chris Algieri business? We knew that was woeful from the get-go. The main event was a mismatch, as were two more of the four-fight card. This week on TQBR Radio, James Foley of Bad Left Hook and Patrick Connor of Queensberry Rules ridicule a lot of things about boxing, then look toward brighter pastures with Terence Crawford vs Ray Beltran coming up. It should get interesting, or at least contradictory. Thanks for tuning in!

Manny Pacquiao’s aura of invincibility and dominance in the sport of boxing continues after his outstanding performance in Macau, China. Chris Algieri did provide Pacquiao with a bit of a puzzle to solve in the early rounds, but eventually Pacquiao made the necessary adjustments to completely outclass his opponent.
From the opening bell Algieri remained tentative of avoiding any of Pacquiao’s power shots. He constantly used lateral movement, and Pacquiao had a difficult time cutting off the ring. Algieri was trying to get in a rhythm but accidentally slipped and the referee counted it as a knockdown. Algieri seemed flustered, but this was just the start of bad things to come. Tonight’s broadcast is all about community. In that past David Levins and I have discussed The Journey of the Hero, as outlined by Joseph Campbell’s seminal work, Hero With a Thousand Faces. For this episode we are going to focus on the final stage of any hero’s journey, in which the hero returns home. In other words, returns to his or her community. So, we’ll talk about the hero’s relation to his or her community, and the consequences for all parties involved if the hero decides to not return, what are the benefits of a hero’s return, the different types of communities, the importance of having others in our lives, the degradation of a community, and a few examples of community in literature, and the arts.
At 8:00 we will unvail a new segment called the Writer's Block.
