    Stress Management for Teenage Girls

    in Education

Being a teenager today means having to handle more stress and pressure than most previous generations.  In a recent study, over 60% of teenage girls complained of feeling severely stressed.  Without the proper resources and emotional tools, young women can find themselves struggling in their daily lives.  By helping them identify the causes of their stress and learn effective ways to manage it, teens can significantly reduce the toll it takes on their emotional and physical health.

Professional counselor Karen Rigatti discusses some frequently asked questions:

What are the most common sources of stress for today's teen girls?

What are some of the signs of being too stressed?

What can parents do to help their teen if she is overly stressed?

How can teens learn to manage and decrease their stress?

    Liberation from Stress

    in Motivation

Counselor Mandy (Eppley) Bird speaks with author and coach Chris Saade about the importance of liberating ourselves from stress. This is critical because of the proven medical research that stress is linked to many illnesses and diseases. Mandy and Chris cover three aspects of stress: Stress of Dissemination, Profound Stress, and Failure Stress. They offer practical tools for liberating ourselves from each of these types of stress. Stress of Dissemination is when we are doing too much – trying to meet everyone’s needs. Instead, we must focus on the essential needs that must to be met. Profound Stress is when we are involved in work, projects, organizations, etc. that are opposite to our authentic nature. When we are not in harmony with ourselves, the cost is very high. When we are aligned with our heart and our authenticity we have the best chance for good health. Failure Stress is when we are not accepting our humanity and are fighting against the authenticity of life itself. Creativity happens through waves of failures and successes. Thus, we must have both of these. Failures are guiding stars to our successes. The good news is that when we liberate ourselves from stress we can experience much more joy and pleasure!

Chris Saâde is the co-director of The Olive Branch Center with his wife, Jessie Thompson, where he teaches courses on engaged spirituality. He has lead more than 200 psychological and spiritual retreats, and continues to serve as a personal Coach for individuals and couples. Chris worked as a licensed psychotherapist for 11 years in private practice specializing in depression and life transitions before migrating into the world of coaching, writing and teaching. He has written 2 books, 2nd Wave Spirituality: Passion for Peace, Passion for Justice and Prayers for Peace and Justice and 2 recordings with Andrew Harvey. www.theolivebranch.net

    How to Manage Through Influence

    in Business

The TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, from 1-2 pm ET (10-11 am PT).

Last week we talked about how HR leaders achieve talent brand dominance, and this week we’re going to talk about how to manage through influence.

Organizations are becoming more matrixed and less hierarchical every day. Command-and-control corporate structures are relics of the past.

Like most managers today, dealing with flatter organizational structures, outsourcing, and virtual teams are all quite challenging. Because of this, more and more managers need to get things done through their peers inside and outside their organizations.

However, because the world of work has gotten so complex, the very act of change has grown increasingly difficult. Today’s flatter organizations actually give employees and managers much more flexibility in deciding how work gets done, but they also require greater levels of collaboration than ever before. This means that success is often dependent on persuading other individuals and teams to support your projects, even if they’re not direct reports.

This skill is called “managing through influence” and is as critical to success in today’s world as a sterling resume or a tireless work ethic.

Join TalentCulture #TChat Show co-founders and co-hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. Grossman as they talk about how to manage through influence with this week’s guest: Jim Fields, Vice President of Customer Experience Marketing at SAP, a multinational software corporation that makes enterprise software to manage business operations and customer relations.

Thank you to all the TalentCulture sponsors, partners and supporters!

Caregiver Stress Reduction Tips & Tools

    in Military

As a caregiver, you may be so focused on your loved one that you don't realize that your own health and well-being are suffering. Watch for these signs of caregiver stress:

    Feeling overwhelmed or constantly worried
Feeling tired most of the time
Sleeping too much or too little
Gaining or losing a lot of weight
    Becoming easily irritated or angry
Losing interest in activities you used to enjoy
    Feeling sad
Having frequent headaches, bodily pain or other physical problems
Abusing alcohol or drugs, including prescription medications

Too much stress, especially over a long time, can harm your health. As a caregiver, you're more likely to experience symptoms of depression or anxiety. In addition, you may not get enough sleep or physical activity, or eat a balanced diet — which increases your risk of medical problems, such as heart disease and diabetes. On this episode of Hope For The Warriors Talk Radio we will share stress-reduction tips and strategies.

SPECIAL GUESTS: Military Veteran Caregivers, Colleen Saffron and Glenda Leary will talk about their experiences of being on the verge of caregiver burnout and how they were able to successfully combat caregiver burnout. Heather Moates will also guest appear on our show and share how she's found stress reduction, individuality and HOPE through creating beautiful wreaths and starting her own business.
