What a lovely talk Prof. Adrienne Mayor gave at The Getty Villa in Malibu in February and it is my great pleasure to have her on the show to share with my listeners what she has learned from her extensive research about the legendary Amazons. We'll discuss the many Amazonian women, hear about their stories, discover where they really lived and what their lives were like. It might surprise you! Be sure to tune in! Prof. Adrienne Mayor is an independent folklorist/historian of science who investigates natural knowledge contained in pre-scientific myths and oral traditions. She's also the author of two books on pre-Darwinian fossil traditions in classical antiquity and in Native America. Titles of her books not on the Amazons include Poison King: the life and Legend of Mithradates the Great, Rome's Deadliest Encmy, Fossil Legends of the First Americans, and the First Fossil Hunters: Paleontology in Greek and Roman Times.

CryptoLogic Radio – Episode 44 – Back by Popular Demand: Bob and Kathy Strain
Last week we had such a great reception for Bob and Kathy that we decided to invite them back. There were a lot of calls-ins and listeners that didn't get the opportunity to ask their questions so this one’s for you. Please call-in or send you questions over chat tonight, you’ll be first priority. --Tonight our guests will be the husband and wife research team of Bob and Kathy Strain. Bob is a retired firefighter/paramedic who has been researching Bigfoot since 1975 when he had an encounter himself near Challis, Idaho. He is also an avid outdoorsman with many years’ experience hunting, fishing, and hiking. And he hosted his own podcast named Let’s Talk Bigfoot. Kathy is the Heritage Resource and Tribal Relations Programs Manager for the Stanislaus National Forest in Sonora, CA. She holds a M.A. in Anthropology and conducts research on native cultures including their traditional beliefs about Bigfoot. She’s an author as well and covers this subject matter in her book Giants, Cannibals, & Monsters: Bigfoot in Native Culture. Al Diaz and co-host Tracee Gluhaich share their insights on Rewrite Your Story With Passion and Purpose.
Wednesday, March 25th 10am PST
Tracee Gluhaich is a Health Coach and Personal Trainer. She and her hubby of 25 years, live on a certified organic farm in California, with her 3 sons (when they aren't off at college). She enjoys boot camp, mountain biking, hiking, and yoga! Based on her experiences with health coaching, she wrote a book called No Fricken Weigh! 21 days to ditch the diet, crowd out the crap, and love yourself to health.
With the current state of health in our country and the continuous rise in obesity, everyone is looking for that quick fix of diet or surgery. Since there are over 100,000 books on dieting, it’s obvious that they simply don’t work. People are looking for that quick fix, temporary solution to a life long problem. They will only work when a commitment is made to a lifestyle change. A marathon versus a sprint.
Ditch the Diet – no more deprivation and wanting to chew your arm off. Stop thinking short term, watching the scale, and dreading your daily exercise.
Crowd Out the Crap – Fill your body with lots of delicious foods that will give you energy and make you feel great.
Love Yourself to Health – Focus on nourishing self care, then food will not be such a crutch.

Silvia Villalobos, a native of Romania who lives immersed in the laid-back vibe of Southern California, is a writer of mystery novels and short fiction. Her stories have appeared in The Riding Light Review, Pure Slush, and Red Fez . She is constantly drawn to premises filled withproblems and questions which arouse feelings that are often beyond imagination yet seem real. Her debut mystery novel, Stranger or Friend, recently released by Solstice Publishing, is theculmination of two lives at a confluence of cultures: an Eastern European immigrant — the author — married to a California native of Hispanic descent. The result is a fictionalized story, an observation, of many lives across such cultural spectrum, taking the reader from Los Angeles to the wilderness of Wyoming. When not writing or hiking the Santa Clarita Woodland Park trails, Silvia can be found atsilviatomasvillalobos.wordpress.com and/or strangerorfriend.com.
Desoto Magazines article on the Buffalo National River in Arkansas Ozarks.
The end of 2014 brought a legal victory so significant for the Buffalo National River watershed in Arkansas that the nonprofit environmental law organization Earthjustice called it “a rare win against industrial agriculture and federal malfeasance.”
Congress established the Buffalo National River in 1972 as America’s first national river. Over a million people visit this national park each year, spending over $46 million annually in local communities. Activities at the park include canoeing, fishing, swimming, caving, camping, hiking, hunting, and sightseeing.
Last month, U.S. District Judge D. Price Marshall found two federal agencies liable for illegally guaranteeing portions of approximately $3.6 million in loans applied for by C&H Hog Farms, a 6,500-animal factory farm that began operating on a tributary of the river in 2013. The two federal agencies—the Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Farm Service Agency (FSA)—guaranteed these loans despite failing to conduct adequate environmental reviews.
Tonight we speak to Mo who had a sighting while out hiking with his kids. The children were playing and Mo looked up to see a figure just outside of the treeline watching them. When the creature and Mo made eye contact the creature then backed up into the brush. Mo terrified for their safety quickly left the area with his kids. This day has haunted him since. Mo continues to look for the creature he saw that day. Since this event he has had another brief sighting and different events in the woods that have shaken him up.
I bet you didn't know Bonnie and Ja'Vonne were Mountaineers.... Gotcha! No, we are not, but that doesn't mean we don't love mountains and their beauty.
