In the Heart of a Man with Donovan McKenzie

    in Culture

Please join host Frankie Picasso this Thursday, July 30th at 1:00 pm est when she is joined by her guest Donovan McKenzie, founder of 'In the Heart of a Man' ( ITHOAM) which is a community for men that gives them a SAFE place to be vulnerable and the space to learn what being a MAN really means.

Donovan who hails from Jamaica, now lives in the heart of Toronto, spending his time and his passion on creating a clothing line, a daily inspirational message, a website and a Blog that allows him to reach out to men and invite them to share their experiences and join his community.

Growing up without a father, Donovan knows first hand how having a strong male influence to guide him past many of his struggles both internal and physical would have made a huge difference in his life. Donovan is now taking his own experiences and offering to be the father, the teacher, the wise friend and counselor for those men who come to ITHOAM seeking a new beginning or way of being.

    Hey gang.
The stories just weren't coming together for a white on white crime episode, so I decided to put the focus on a quesiton that was asked of me by one of the folks in the social networks.

    This is his quesiton.

To all the men on my news feed who are lightweight well versed in the feminisms like me, do you still sometimes get afraid or nervous when calling misogyny out in other men? I do. At least if it's someone I don't really know. Or I'm outnumbered in progressive opinions. Or if I do say something I get nervous and start to jumble my words and shit sounds really fragmented. And they usually don't end up listening anyway. Most times I get written off. But sometimes they do see the err. But they may say something else lightweight sexist that I'll let slide or address in a humorous manner because I'm afraid that they'll revert back to just being full on misogynists cause male ego and shit. All that to say, are any of my men friends afraid of men and/or addressing misogyny in men like me? I'd really love the feedback.

I'll be answering that and digging into some news and comment.

From there, I'll pass the microphone to Phoenix Calida and Lisa Loco.

Overall, how would you describe how Blacks/AA feel about EACH OTHER?

    in Education

Let's forget talking about how whites or other races feel about us, or the injustices, slavery, white supremacy etc I wanna discuss how we feel about each other. Over the past few months, I've been reading a lot of literature that appears to display a lot of anger, hate, fear etc that Blacks/AA deal with, amongst each other. Whether it's from male/female romantic relationships/marriage, not supporting each other economically, or just lacking unity etc, so I'm curious to know what's the general consensus about how we feel about each other. There is a cliche out there, that states that  "you can't love someone else until you love self", so how do we get into loving self? Or is that cliche' even true? Let's talk about it on Darryel's Daily Dialogue, "where positive words, manifest positive action."

God's Divine, Grand Design for Man and Woman

    in Religion

Greetings!  Join me, Doctor Dayciaa Smith, for a fabulous episode of Divine Experience on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 @ 5:30 pm CST.  I'll give personal updates, talk about P.O.I.s for the week, and share feedback I reviewed from a web site on fundamental differences between males and females, men and women.  Our focal topic is on "God's Divine, Grand Design for Man and Woman," and we will reference Biblical Scriptures that confirm we are unique, separate entities in the eyesight of God with specific roles and purpose.  Tune in for a great, conversationally-stimulating show.

  • Killer Cops and where are they now?

    in Current Events

Just because it's not in the media how can we forget about all of the African American male lives lost during what seemed to be some kind of  surge in law enforcment brutality cases across the country over the past few years. Where are those cops now? Did they get off easy, or did some of them become scapegoats for the drama?

Let's chop it up, on The Menu.

"In Other Words…" About Transgender and Gender Fluidity

    in LGBT

Transgender is becoming more understood in our culture.  Or at least, it's more recognized.  But that's the problem, it isn't understood.  I spoke with Erica Burns, a transgender female and Robert Lee, a gender-neutral person.  That was a new one for me.

Erica's story is one you've heard before: She always knew she was born into the wrong body.  About 9 months ago, at 23, she took action ... and hormones.

Robert goes by "he" because he was born into a male body, and he is comfortable with it.  But it doesn't stop there.  He is not a hermaphrodite.  He calls himself "gender fluid."  He says he is in the middle, choosing neither male nore female.

This show is guaranteed to be interesting!
