Show #104: Transparency in the Workplace

    in Business

Special Guest: Joe Wiggins, Head of Communications, Glassdoor

Employees used to be in the dark in the workplace. The employer would hold all the cards from the moment someone walked through the door for an interview to the moment they walked out the door on their way to another job or to retirement. Information about salary, the interview process, the benefits package, the culture and how a company had treated it staff in the past was restricted, or at the very least difficult to find. This has meant that making decisions about where to work has been, until a few years ago, based on very limited, incomplete and certainly one-sided information.

When it comes to an ‘employer brand’, job seekers get far more information online than what they read on a company’s career site. So a company’s employer brand is not just about what an employer puts out but it is also about the voice of the people that interact with the company, be it employees, customers, investors, shareholders and others.

This transparency will continue to rapidly change the workplace. Those companies that cannot, or refuse to, adapt will wither and those that embrace the trend will flourish. We are already seeing this today, with companies living their lives in the open finding it easier and cheaper to recruit and having much higher rates of retention.

Joe Wiggins is Head of Comms for Glassdoor in Europe. He manages external affairs across all channels including traditional and social media and is launching Glassdoor in new countries across Europe. He has 15 years communications experience, specialising in launching and enhancing the profile of online brands. He has been with Glassdoor since March 2014. His experience in online recruitment goes back to the Millennium, working with Top Jobs On The Net.

TEST SHOW WE HAVE TO TEST THE MICS

    in Lifestyle

I'm not apologizing for my post last night. Some get it some don't. It's pathetic and ridiculous in 2015 we are making comments about who someone is taking pictures with or hanging around.

I was guilty of this at one point. Looking at people's pictures and making snide comments. Then as REAL TALK evolved the reality came that it was personal thoughts about myself that lead me to worry about what others are doing in pictures.

That said on more than one occasion people have made comments about me taking pictures with white women. The claim of in jest or just a joke does not flow with me.

If it's a joke you say it once and keep it moving. You keep saying it then in your mind there some truth to it.

Are you jealous? Wish it was you? Maybe you wish you could take pictures with me. Don't know don't care!!!

This page is open and you can comment how you want. You will get called out on such ignorance.

I've learned I can't worry about the color of who I love or befriend. There is too much other things to worry about than what color of women or friends I know.

    REAL TALK!!!

    The Passion Test--with Sharon Hinckley

    in Spirituality

We know that we are the result of our choices; however, we don’t always know the ideal way to make the choices that are best for us. So often we will adopt someone else's system or practice which works for a while and then we end up feeling frustrated once again. Making wise decisions is a lot easier when we can filter out extraneous information and develop a sensible perspective. The Passion Test is a process created by Janet Bray Atwood and Chris Atwood that skillfully guides us toward becoming aware of our own deepest desires in a manner that is fun and playful. When you are happy the Divine is happy too!

On Friday, March 6, noon PT/3 p.m. ET/8 p.m. UK, Purpose Talk Radio guest Sharon Hinckley--an artist, author, photographer, yoga instructor and Passion Test Facilitator--will share the Passion Test tools for Self-Discovery. Sharon Hinckley will talk about how The Passion Test works and why it is works. She also will challenge host Cindy Freeman by having her take "the test," be open to the possibilities and to wait for the surprises.

Each Friday at 12 noon PT/3 pm ET/8 pm UK, host Cindy Freeman and her guests bring insights and ideas to help you grow in your Soul path. Cindy's guests are live their life with a purpose and are willing to share with listeners how they got there and how others might benefit from their experience. Join Cindy live or archived to explore this area.
