Why Is Coral Being Used For Fashion & Home Decor?

    in Environment

In 2010, when the Gulf Oil spill happened, the public was outraged. There was a worldwide outcry of concern for marine life and marine preservation as the Gulf Oil spill contaminated miles of pristine ocean and its surrounding areas. However, there is an even bigger problem affecting marine life. It is being done for the sake of fashion and exotic home décor. An estimated 70-90% of marine aquariums are collected illegally using poisonous cyanide. Other poisons such as bleach, formalin, and gasoline are also used. This not only reduces biodiversity but also removes key components of the reef ecosystem, including algae grazers, which help maintain ecosystem health. Coral reefs contain some of the largest diversity of life in the world. They are home to thousands of different plants and animals. For example, coral reefs in the Florida Keys sustain 500 species of fish, more than 1700 species of mollusks, five species of sea turtles, and hundreds of species of sponges. In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer will speak to Dr. Dan Thornhill, Coral Reef Marine Scientist from Defenders of Wild Life about what we need to do to protect our precious coral reef.

Justice for River - Returned to Abusers Needs Our Help

    in Pets

This heartbreaking story will leave you in tears so be sure to have your tissues ready then be prepared to take action. River escaped the Hell in which he was living and found his way into the home and hearts of a pair of loving souls. He was given love, proper food, a soft warm bed, and proper veterinary care only to be ripped away and handed back to the horrible conditions he so despirately tried escaping. I read the petition, cried, got angry, signed the petition (www.change.org/p/sam-olens-brian-childress-rescue-river-from-his-abusers), shared it, 'liked' the facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Justice4River), then created this show to tell you about this precious soul who needs our help. Please don't turn your back on River. Listen to his story, get angry, sign the petition, like his page, and share this show. Let's get the entire world involved in this case and let's save the life of this dog and his cell mate. I know he can count on us!

The Interpersonal Connection ~ Rev. Andrae' E. Crouch ~

    in Music

Encouragement & Inspiration Let's Talk About It, Then Pray About It Andrae Crouch was called the "Father of Modern Gospel" The Gospel melodic hymns sung by Andrae Crouch and his choir kept congregations swaying back and forth in worship for decades. He set the tone for mixing contemporary music with traditional gospel. He paved the road for others to follow, but his journey finally ended last week as Andrae Crouch passed on January 8, 2015 at the age of 72. He held many awards to support that title. He holds to his name seven Grammys, and of those, four of them were for “Best Contemporary Gospel Album”. Andrae is the only gospel artist to receive a star on the “Hollywood Walk of Fame”. With all of his amazing credits towards music, Andrae could have easily just rested on his throne, of being the “Father of Modern Gospel”, but as he settled into himself and his purpose, he decided to go back to his humble beginnings. Andrae Crouch decided to take on the role of pastor of the church his dad presided over during his childhood. For Andrae that might have been one of his greatest accomplishments, to simply praise The Lord. He remarked in an interview, that whenever anyone passes his star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame, if the questioned is asked, “Who is Andrea Crouch?”, he simply wants the answer to be “He sang about Jesus”. A humble yet majestic man he seemed, from whom we can continue to enjoy the magic of music that he has left behind.
