nsurance fraud is big business in the U.S. How big? About $80 billion dollars a year—that's an average of $950 for each American family—according to the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud whose members represent insurance companies, consumer groups, and government agencies.
The most obvious cost to consumers appears as higher premiums, because insurers pass on the cost of insurance fraud to policy holders. But consumers pay for insurance fraud in other ways, too. The cost of consumer goods and services rises when manufacturers, service providers, and merchants pass through their increased insurance costs. Fraudulent insurance investment schemes rob Americans, particularly the elderly, of hard earned savings. Staged auto accidents and arson not only destroy property but endanger lives.
What is insurance fraud?
Let out a loud Ric Flair WOOOO! Radio: PI is back! In the 2014-2015 debut episode of the Radio: PI Podcast Network flagship program, Mike "the Buzz-saw" Asti steps in the Pens Initiative ring, grabs the mic, and spits fire. Brian Keenan, a PI staff writer, joins Mike for some broadcast gold.
Fan favorite and Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Penguins beat writer, THE Josh Yohe helps the guys preview the upcoming season. What grade do they give new GM Jim Rutherford's first Pens offseason? Has the goal of more bottom line depth been achieved? Should a lackluster preseason cause any concern? Let me rephrase, any rational concern (gotta account for the Yinzers and buffoons out there)? How does the entire NHL landscape impact the Penguins quest to reclaim Lord Stanley's Cup?
The puck drops on another season of Pittsburgh Penguins hockey and Radio: PI via PensInitiative.com on the Radio: PI Podcast Network.
We're 9 games into the season and October's portion of the Penguins schedule is officially over. Where is the team compared to last year? How do the new guys stack up? What's next for the Pens?
These questions and more will be answered right here on Radio: PI on the Radio: PI Podcast Network. Brought to you by SinglePittsburgh.com
When Does Surveillance Become Stalking?
What is Surveillance?
Surveillance is the close observation of a person, place, or object. It is the practice of watching a subject in order to document and identify any of the contact, interactions, or whereabouts of the subject. Surveillance investigations can include:
Missing person searches
Cheating spouse investigations
Worker's compensation cases
Surveillance is a critical skill for any private investigator (PI). In our investigative agency, over half our cases, from criminal defense to personal injury, require some degree of surveillance. For PIs who specialize in insurance or infidelity investigations, surveillance can be the bulk of their work.
Do You Know What Your Clients are Saying About You?
Do You Know What Your Clients Are Saying
Because I do. Well, probably not you specifically but I get calls every week from prospective clients that begin with a complaint of the first PI they called or hired. In the interest of personal development, a closer look at a few common complaints I hear may be insightful.
“The last place wouldn’t even quote me a solid price.”
If you deal with new calls that are not from attorneys or other service firms, the client’s number one concern at the start of the call is likely how much your service is going to cost. Your client wants to know that your fee is reasonable for the service you provide and that they are not going to be ripped off or scammed in any way.
This may not be the most common complaint I hear about other PI’S but it is one you can easily avoid by being transparent. Gather the information you need to quote a price to get the job done and quote a firm price. If there will likely be additional fees, especially if the amount is unknown, make sure your client understands this up front and save frustration down the road. Under-Promise and Over-Deliver.
The tightrope walk is often about securing a fair price for your time and energy without scaring away your prospect. I have found that the secret to overcoming a client’s possible “sticker shock” when you talk money is to show your client as much value as you can before you quote your fee. If your client trusts that you are the right person for the job, the exact dollar amount becomes much less important to them.
BACKGROUNDS & ASSETT SEARCHES
We conduct all types of Backgrounds from locating missing persons (heirs of an estate) to loved ones and family members.
Missing persons and family members, we locate them by searching computer databases, searching prisons, homeless shelters, Salvation Army, Social Network Sites like Facebook, etc.
Once we locate that person, we make contact with them and make sure that they want to be contacted by the client?
Background checks are often requested by employers on job candidates for employment screening, especially on candidates seeking a position that requires high security or a position of trust, such as in a school, hospital, financial institution, airport, and government. These checks are traditionally administered by a government agency for a nominal fee, but can also be administered by private companies. Background checks can be expensive depending on the information requested. Results of a background check typically include past employment verification, credit history, and criminal history.
