Black Love & Relationships: ARE YOU PREPARED?

    in Culture

The climate and times that we are living in have changed. If you have been paying attention this has been quite evident for some time now. If an emergency were to happen, would your family have the means to withstand power outages, extrememe heat or cold? Flooding? What about a lack of food because the grocery store has run out? Do you know how much water you should have per person in your home? What about a means to purify water? How much of your perscription medication do you have as back-up because the pharmacy wont be giving you anymore? It is important that you learn what to do in the event that SHTF...and believe me people.. it will! Just ask the people in St. Louis what happened a week ago...Do you think they expected the major flooding that just happened? Don't under estimate the writing on the wall. Brothers and Sisters, it is time to develop a serious alliance to battle the upcoming events that could take you out no matter your race, color, creed, religion, age, or financial status.

Joining us this week will be guest David Wren of the Thando Radio Show. He will explain in detail what you need to learn, do , and teach in the areas of survival and preparedness.

We will also be joined by Ms.Yolanda Spivey of Michael Whitney Insurance. This Black-owned company will inspire you to take a look at your current insurance policies, and modify them according to what your current needs are concerning your family and preparedness.

I have long avoided this topic. The reason is because my goal is to uplift Black people, and not shine a negitive light. Unfortunately there are certain things that need to be addressed. Baby mama and baby daddy drama has been a long standing issue that many people have had to deal with. Why is this? When two people have decided that they cannot work out their relationships for whatever reason but have children, things can sometimes turn very ugly. How can people move beyond the firestorm that can erupt after a break up, and simoly be concerned with the well-being of the children? Can financial responsibility and visitation and or joint custody be worked out in a fair manner that will benefit both parents and child?

Join us as we find solutions to these tough issues with esteemed lawyer Ms.Venus Harry of St. louis Missouri.

Writeous Talk on Love & Relationships with Derek Q Sanders

    in Motivation

Writeous Talk on Love and Relationship is a show dedicated to thought-provoking content that encourages meaningful dialogue about love & relationships between single men and women who desire to be married. We'll discuss real issues that women talk about among themselves and men talk about among themselves, but rarely discuss openly between us. This show is not intended to pit men and women against one another as shows do which spark ratings/listenership, but does nothing to better our collective or individual understanding of one another which will ultimately improve the quality of our relationships. That is the mission and purpose of this show.

    ABOUT YOUR HOST:

Derek Q. Sanders is a published author, blogger, public speaker, songwriter, and a musician. He has traveled the country as a musician on two consecutive tours with international spoken word artist, Mike Ellison.

On love & relationships, Derek speaks from a place of transparency and truth. He writes from two key premises (1) in the current societal landscape, women are not only undervalued, they are devalued being routinely objectified daily through mainstream media and entertainment. He provides insightful content that uplifts with truth & love. (2) There are far too few platforms that encourage open and honest dialogue between men and women that center on real issues that affect the health and well-being of our relationships. He creates that needed space.

Derek's mission is to foster strong healthy relationships by providing thought-provoking commentary that creates the atmosphere for dialogue that invites meaningful conversations between men and women to improve the quality of our relationships by finding and offering viable solutions.

How much do you think about homelesness? Unfortunately your average household is one paycheck away from not having the ability to pay mortgage or rent. Are you concerned with the lack of shelter and intervention for the teen homeless population? What happens to young adults when they are "aged" out of the foster system? Many people think of homeless people as hopeless. Hopefully by listening to this show today you will gain different perspective.

I don't know if you are aware or not, but there is a large population of teens that are homeless. Do you know of any organizations that are reaching out to our youth?

Join us Tuesday March 29th 2016 at 6PM PST/8PM CST/9PM EST  when we will speak with Camille Davis of Covenant House of Anchorage Alaska.

    ABOUT COVENANT HOUSE:

Covenant House Alaska is a 24/7 shelter for teens ages 13-20 and also provides services and housing to young people in our transitional living homes Passage House (for young and/or expecting mothers)  and Rights of Passage, a 18-month program for young adults who are exiting out of crisis and transitioning into stable independence with Covenant House Support. Covenant House is guided by our principles of Immediacy, Sanctuary, Value Communication, Structure, and Choice and seek to serve all youth who enter our doors or whom we meet on the street with absolute respect and unconditional love.

We will discuss Covenant House and a few other organizations that help with the homeless problem in this country. Won't you get involved?
