Music is everywhere and is everything. It is also alive! Music has been the one constant social and emotional thing that drops us to our knees, put us on our feet, have us cry out in pain and even shout to the top of our lungs with joy. It has brought us together in victories and defeats, consoled us in dying times and joined us together in holy matrimonies. ”Remember a song and you will remember a place and time in your life”. That is a quote from music’s soul stirrer, R&B singer/songwriter K’Jon. He will forever be linked to many people for his hit song, “On The Ocean”, which gave him a #1 song on the radio for six weeks straight. Amazingly, his last album ”I Get Around” also debuted at #1 on the Hip Hop/R&B album charts and later made Billboards Top 50 R&B/Hip Hop Album of 2009! The album was so well received by audiences nationwide that K’Jon was nominated for the Best New Artist category at the 2010 NAACP Image Awards. Bio from K' Jon Official website.

KENNY GARRETT DEBUTS HIS NEW CD
PUSHING THE WORLD AWAY
For his third Mack Avenue Records release, Pushing the World Away, alto/soprano saxophonist,
composer/bandleader Kenny Garrett literally had to “push away” a steady flow of distractions to get to the
inner core of the album, shifting priorities in his schedule and diving deep into the essence of the music.
“I’m always writing, so coming up with the music wasn’t a problem,” says Garrett, who is arguably the most
imitated alto saxophone player in jazz. “But I had been traveling a lot with my band, and I don’t rehearse new
material on tour. Yet to record an album requires a lot of preparation and to conceptualize the music I had to
push away to receive the blessings and gifts from these songs.”
On Pushing the World Away, Garrett continues to mature as a composer. As the late Mulgrew Miller, his
close friend for many years, noted in a DownBeat feature on the saxophonist last year: “Kenny has always
had a great sound from the beginning. He had his own unique sound, but [thanks to his compositions] that
sound has transformed into a more captivating and lyrical voice.”
Garrett, in turn, nods to the pianist who he had known for more than 30 years on the jaunty, upbeat and at
times explosive opening track of the album, “A Side Order of Hijiki,” which is decidedly not about the hijiki
culinary seaweed. “No seaweed,” says Garrett who takes an expansive alto flight on this track. “It’s actually
the word that Mulgrew used to describe my playing style. He would say, ‘I hear you playing that hijiki’.”
The romance continues: urban-jazz saxophonist Kim Waters will mark his 25th year with the release of “Silver Soul” on September 2.
New York City (10 July 2014): With persistence, patience and passion, romance grows stronger, richer and sweeter each year and for 25 years, urban-jazz saxophonist Kim Waters has written, produced and performed chart-topping candlelight compositions that explore the excitement, exoticism and mystique of love. He will clank glasses on September 2 to celebrate the silver anniversary with the release of his aptly titled 20th solo album, “Silver Soul,” to be issued by Red River Entertainment.
“Silver Soul” is most definitely an urban adult contemporary album with a wealth of R&B vocals and sultry grooves although almost half of the dozen cuts produced by Waters are instrumental numbers certain to woo his contemporary jazz fan base like the highly rhythmic first single with the grandiose hook, “Dreaming Of You,” is already doing. The tune showcasing his daughter Kayla Waters on piano was the second most added track on playlists this week according to BDS Radio. Press from Official Kim Waters websit

Real artistry is about peeling back the layers of your soul and allowing the creative truth to take form. Russell Taylor taps into that creative space and unlocks a masterpiece in his latest musical offering, War of Hearts, on his own Indigo Blue label.
Far from a novice in the music game, Russell - a self-professed nomad - has poured out his heart and soul on the world stages, including stops in London, Amsterdam and Paris as well as famed stateside venues from The Mint and The Roxy in Los Angeles to SOB’s and Joe’s Pub in New York. Through his travels, Russell has created a fan base as diverse as his multi-genre catalog of recordings.
Russell’s previous offerings Somewhere In Between (2007) and Confessional - a Soultracks.com ‘must have records’ (2010) - are sprinkled with gentle gems like the alluring “2B Loved” and the stripped down, acoustic brilliance of “All Said & Done” to the sexually charged “Hands 2 Myself” and the military cadence of “Fair Game,” and have satisfied the appetites of music lovers the world over.
Additionally, Russell has shared the stage with major artists from Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott and India.Arie, to legends Isaac Hayes and Patti LaBelle; an amazing fete for an independent artist.
The textbook definition of an independent artist, Russell Taylor continues to embrace his freedom on War of Hearts, as he unabashedly takes the helm of his artistry and navigates his own course. “I made this record full of songs that I’d like to hear,” professes Russell.
Giftted singer/songwriter Jenn Em Debuts New single 'JAILKEEPER' Featured on Singersroom.com
Singer + songwriter Jenn Em (née Jennifer Michelle Malsch), 22, was born and raised in the shadow of the US capitol, in small-town Chevy Chase, Maryland. The lone creative soul in a family of academic types, Jenn was playing the piano by age four, and had written her first song at age six. While still in single-digits she took up the violin, performing for audiences at the Kennedy Center, the White House, and at Baltimore Orioles baseball games – each instance in perfectly frilly dresses, accented by child-prodigy cuteness. She was never not singing. As a rebellious teenager she dropped the cute act, and expanded her musical repertoire by entering the world hip-hop and R&B as an around-the-way writer and hook-singer. In 2008 she released a remix of "Nike Boots" by fellow Washington, D.C. native Wale (feat. Lil' Wayne). The track exploded in the local market and provided the kick in the ass the then seventeen-year old Jenn needed to decide to pack up and hit the road for Los Angeles.
“I sang everywhere, for everyone – anyone!” she reflects about her early moments looking for a break on the West coast. Stumbling over roadblocks in life and love the way young, ambitious girls do, Jenn poured her pain into her music. Then, the way it randomly goes in the business of music, Jenn met JUB Records owner + executive Jubbie Chang – with whom she grew an electric creative synergy and began to develop her unique musical sound. Together they began working on her deeply personal and inspired project. Jenn Em is currently writing and recording her ice blue-eyed, raw-soul inspired debut EP with few fucks otherwise to give.
Rick Braun feels like getting up and dancing
Chart-topping trumpeter returns July 8 with “Can You Feel It,” his first contemporary jazz album in five years; “Get Up and Dance” starts the party at radio
Sherman Oaks, Calif. (29 May 2014): It’s been five years since trumpeter-flugelhorn player Rick Braun released an album full of the funky R&B contemporary jazz grooves that made him one of the genre’s most consistent hitmakers over the past twenty years, but the award-winning musician, producer and songwriter returns to his signature sound July 8 with the release of his sixteenth album, “Can You Feel It,” which will be issued by Artistry Music/Mack Avenue Records. A bona fide contender as the feel good anthem for the summer of 2014, Braun’s “Get Up And Dance,” a collaboration with tenor sax sensation Dave Koz, is already collecting radio playlist adds.
After scratching a creative itch to croon jazz standards on his two most recent releases, “Sings with Strings” and the holiday-themed “Swingin’ in the Snow,” Braun had a very specific direction he wanted to pursue for “Can You Feel It” for which he wrote or co-wrote nine tunes along with helming the production.
“When I started working on this album, which was about a year in the making, there were two goals that I had in mind. I wanted it to be really organic and have a lot of my friends playing on it. Young players melding together with the old faithful,” explained Braun.
So he reached out to a bunch of his friends, colleagues and collaborators and dialed back the time machine twenty years ago to the era of his breakthrough disc, “Beat Street,” to help chart the course for “Can You Feel It.”
