Time of the Locust: Travel into the heart and mind of an extraordinary autistic boy in this deeply imaginative debut novel of a mother’s devotion, a father’s punishment, and the power of love.
Sephiri is an autistic boy who lives in a world of his own making, where he dwells among imagined sea creatures that help him process information in the “real world” in which he is forced to live. But lately he has been having dreams of a mysterious place, and he starts creating fantastical sketches of this strange, inner world.
Brenda, Sephiri’s mother, struggles with raising her challenged child alone. Her only wish is to connect with him—a smile on his face would be a triumph. Meanwhile, Sephiri’s father, Horus, is sentenced to life in prison, making life even lonelier for Brenda and Sephiri. Yet prison is still not enough to separate father and son. In the seventh year of his imprisonment and the height of his isolation, Horus develops supernatural mental abilities that allow him to reach his son.

Ancient Chinese Cosmology Points to Earlier Advanced Culture
Building on his extensive research into the sacred symbols and creation myths of the Dogon of Africa and those of ancient Egypt, India, and Tibet, Laird Scranton investigates the myths, symbols, and traditions of prehistoric China, providing further evidence that the cosmology of all ancient cultures arose from a single now-lost source. Scranton explores the fundamental similarities between the language that defined ancient Chinese cosmology and that of other creation traditions, revealing the connections between the phonetic structure of the words, their glyphs, and their use. He demonstrates striking parallels between the earliest systems of writing in China and the hieroglyphs of ancient Egypt. He examines the 8 levels of creation in Taoism and the cosmological origins of Chinese ancestor worship, mythical emperors, the zodiac, the mandala, and the I Ching. He details the fundamental principles of land-use in ancient China in relation to the symbolism of a Buddhist stupa and the Dogon granary, ritual shrines that are also the central symbol of other creation traditions.
Laird Scranton is an independent software designer who has studied ancient myth, language, and cosmology for more than a decade. An authority on Dogon mythology and symbolism, he is the author of The Science of the Dogon, Sacred Symbols of the Dogon, Cosmological Origins of Myth and Symbol, and The Velikovsky Heresies. He lives in Albany, New York.

Inspiration of the Day
“Find something to be happy about every day,
and every hour,
even if only for a few minutes,
and if possible moment-to-moment.
“This is the easiest and best protection you can have.”
author of The Turning Point
So Now What?
Life can certainly be overwhelming.
Just a brief look at the headlines in the news can fill us with grief and despair. But it is in these moments that we need to stop and take the time (however brief) to counter the surge of sadness, frustration or anger with thoughts and feelings of happiness.
It is in the feelings of happiness that we clear the mind and solutions can be found. There is always something in your life to be happy and thankful for. It’s not that happiness can’t be found, the happiness is there…it’s just that we often don’t stop to enjoy it.
Take 30 seconds to write down 8 – 10 things you are thankful for right now or that make you happy. I’ll start you off…hot shower, hummingbirds, favorite comedian…now it’s your turn.
And have a great day. You deserve it!!!
