Chronic pelvic pain, painful sex and heavy bleeding may send some women to the doctor fearing the worst – the need for removal of their reproductive organs. But while physicians perform hysterectomies on more than 500,000 women in America each year, new research shows that one in five of those women may not even need the surgery.
Top hysterectomy surgeon and medical advisor Dr. Lori Warren is answering questions for women who need help now!
Each year millions of women visit their doctors after suffering from pelvic and abdominal pain and many may be told they need to have a hysterectomy. For young women who want to have children, having a hysterectomy is a devastating blow. Even women over 40 have lots of questions about how it will affect their health. But new research suggests that as many as 1 in 5 women may not even need the surgery.
1. Dr. Warren, why bring attention to this now and dedicate the month of May to awareness?
2. The research shows some pretty shocking statistics. Why are so many women having hysterectomies that don’t need them?
3. Why is this surgery so often seen as a “go to solution” by Ob-Gyn doctors?
4. In this day in age, why do younger women avoid talking about the symptoms they’re facing, even with their own doctors?
5. If so many women don’t need to have the surgery, who really needs it and who doesn’t?

The massive success of “Whiskey & Wine Vol. 1” kept the band on the road for the most part of 2014. The first single “That Was The Whiskey”, co-written with Nashville songwriter Lori McKenna (Faith Hill, Little Big Town, Hunter Hayes), premiered on CMT trending in the Top 10 and was nominated in the "Country Song" category at The 13th Annual Independent Music Awards. When the New York based, alt-country female rockers do something, they do it big. Catapulted into the national spotlight in 2005 with a groundbreaking major label debut that landed them in the top 20 of the Billboard Heatseekers chart for an entire year.
Best known for relentless touring and masterful musicianship, the band played upwards of 280 shows a year in their early days. Founding sisters Cathy and Kristen Henderson have always had the same philosophy. Play better than the boys and make sure the fans feel like part of the family. Catchy songs, has allowed this self-sustained group to maintain her independence and leave an indelible mark on an industry best known for leaving girl (bands) behind.
In a business riddled with pitfalls, the fans have been the one thing Antigone Rising count on. Their first independent fan-funded CD (2000's "Rock Album") raised ten thousand dollars via checks through snail mail before the internet ever kicked into high gear. Their fan funded effort for "23 Red" raised quadruple that number, with fan perks including bowling and kickball with the band, private house concerts, and band members making personal happy birthday phone calls. Their latest campaign through PledgeMusic reached 154% of its goal within weeks. The fans are the lifeblood of Antigone Rising and have always been the most critical part of the formula.
