Unions: Built by American Workers & Workers Now Helps GOP Lobbyist Crush Unions

    in Politics Progressive

It is time Americans take down the GOP veil of deceit and work once again to strengthen American Unions.  Unions are responsible for everything good about working class Americans way of life. GOP lobbyist are responsible for everything that has contributed to the crushing of American unions. The top 1% of Americans own 42 percent of the USA. Without unions being in American history, think about what America would look like today. Our soldiers are on food stamps all across America. A lady dies in Florida because of lack of finances to purchase life saving drugs. A lady dies in New Jersey, while sleeping in her vehicle, getting rested up so she could work a second shift on her full time job. Unions are representative of workers. The union is a collective body that speaks and negotiates the wishes of workers to CEOs and politicians. Lobbyist are a collective body that speaks and negotiates the wishes of CEOs to politicians.

    Without unions would USA have:

    Ended child labor

40 hour work week and paid overtime

Worker's comp benefits for workers injured on the job

Unemployment insurance for workers who lose their jobs

A guaranteed minimum wage for workers

    Pensions for workers

    Healthcare insurance for workers

Paid sick leave, vacations, and holidays as standard benefits for most workers

the right for public sector workers to collectively bargain

    Occupational Safety and Health Act

    Family Medical Leave Act

Lobbyist are there for American Legislative Exchange Council, who are a body of corporations, headed up by CEOs whose goal is to develop wealth through massive unemployment of the American worker. This happens because of the GOP.  GOP protects CEOs with laws to outsource US jobs, and bring in Foreign workers to do jobs, claiming Americans won't do the jobs, or can't do the jobs. Call this crap!

    Inside Visual Artist: Russell Heath

    in Art

If you’re not living life full out, Russell Heath wants a talk with you. It’s his mission to get people off the sidelines and into the action. He’s been in the thick of the action since he was a kid—in his teens he hitchhiked to Alaska and lived in a cabin on the banks of the Tanana River; in his twenties, he lived in Italy, crossed the Sahara and the jungles and savannas of Africa; in his thirties, he sailed around the world (alone); in his forties, he wrote novels no one would publish; and in his fifties he bicycled the spine of the Rockies from Alaska to Mexico. He’s worked on the Alaska Pipeline, as an environmental lobbyist in the Alaska Legislature, and run a storied environmental organization fighting (successfully) to protect Alaska’s rainforests. Several years ago, he moved to New York City to dig deep into leadership development and coaching. He now coaches business and non-profit leaders as well as people who want to live rich, zesty, kick-*** lives.

    ReTreat, ReCovery, ReMitt

    in Politics Conservative

As the newly elected severely squishy Republican Congress retreats to a chocolate factory to salve their quivering spines, the consultant-lobbyist-establishment-complex prepares for an arduous 2-year election cycle of mental masturbation, false hope and a repeat of merely switching the players and keeping the same script in this poorly made zombie apocalypse B-movie called American Electoral Politics. From another Clinton to another Bush and even a three-peat of Romney, it can’t get worse except that it can and it will!

While the Washington-New York axis provides the shock and awe of ReMitt and RePeat, they sell the idea of a booming economic Recovery. This isn’t a recovery, it is a Re-Cover Up! Ah, but you have your choice of two parties to fix it from within the system, right? Either way the result shall remain that your military power will be used to fight endless wars with no victories and pile up insurmountable debt of blood and treasure.

Tyranny persists UNLESS liberty-loving people band together to restore Constitutional governance from your own neighborhood on up to the Imperial District of Corruption.  Restore The Constitutional Militia of the Several States, sound money, free economies, religious and civil liberties as well as a sensible foreign policy of trade, friendship and non-interventionist defense backed up by the most powerful Navy and Marines; or watch the fascists in both parties push transnational agendas to their benefit and our demise. Now is the last chance to stop those who perpetuate an empire abroad and a police state at home. To defeat the lawless hordes of Cultural Marxists, fascists, oligarchs, kleptocrats, useful idiots and their fellow travelers especially the Democrat-socialists, first you MUST CRUSH the Neocon RINOs...for liberty!

Move to Amend Reports w/Laura Bonham & Egberto Willies

    in Politics

This week features lifetime activist and affiliate organizer for Move to Amend in Tuscaloosa, Jim Price, to talk with us about his experience as a Southern organizer for justice and how to approach grassroots organizing in "red states" like Alabama.

Jim Price has spent most of his adult life as an activist and organizer for justice in the southern United States.  For twenty-six years, Jim served as a field representative, grassroots organizer, and lobbyist at the Sierra Club.  He was a founder of the Club’s National Environmental Justice Grassroots Organizing Program through which he supported numerous local organizations representing low income white and nonwhite communities throughout the U.S. in their struggles.  During the 1990s, Jim helped initiate the Sierra Club’s Corporate Accountability Project.  He presented a popular presentation “Corporations and the Deterioration of Democracy” at over fifty venues. In the mid-90’s Jim became a Principal with the Program on Corporations, Law, and Democracy (POCLAD).  He was also a founder of the Alliance for Democracy, served on its first Board of Directors, and helped found the Birmingham, Alabama Chapter.  Jim’s Unitarian Universalist community has been a great support to him.  The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Tuscaloosa’s Social Justice Team and Board of Trustees have both endorsed the Move to Amend amendment. Since retiring to Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 2012, Jim has been an active organizer in the Move to Amend – Tuscaloosa affiliate.
