    Program Summary: April 25, 2015

@Naomi_Fowler produces for the Tax Justice Network the monthly "Taxcast."

In the April 2015 Taxcast: How just are our tax systems towards women? Plus: one of the USA's biggest corporations (and tax avoiders) is repatriating billions from offshore and re-focusing on good old manufacturing again, and remember how the UK Prime Minister was 'leading the world' in transparency measures not so long ago? We discuss the letter a former Cayman Islands lobbyist and Conservative peer wrote to reassure the tax haven that it was an empty gesture to distract from the proposed Financial Transaction Tax.

Then from Great Speeches and Interviews, Sacramento, CA "Inside the Police State."

Police officer Adrian Schoolcraft secretly recorded his supervisors telling officers to manipulate crime statistics and make illegal arrests from 2008 to 2009. The Village Voice series that broke Schoolcraft's story was written by Graham Rayman. Ira Glass narrates the story. "Police Officer Schoolcraft, who worked in the relatively high-crime 81st precinct in Brooklyn, was not a happy camper. Some might call him a malcontent.
In 2009, he began to secretly tape-record precinct roll calls at which commanding officers ordered cops like himself to refuse to take robbery victims’ crime complaints. Cops were also ordered to downgrade felonies — which are serious crimes — to less serious misdemeanors so that the precinct would appear safer than it actually was. Schoolcraft’s secret tape recordings might well have been ignored, had not the police department then done something shocking.  On Oct. 31, 2009, Schoolcraft left his tour early, saying he felt sick, and returned to his apartment in Queens. What happened next tells us much about "the police state."

Hard Starboard Radio: The First Lesbian President?

    in Politics Conservative

Campaign staff drove "ordinary" Iowans to Hillary's first campaign stop, including health care 'lobbyist in training' who was an Obama campaign intern and Biden chauffeur; Hillary’s "Mystery Machine" caught parked in handicapped spot; Three of Hillary's "immigrant" grandparents were born in such exotic foreign locales as...Scranton; We deserve Hillary’s bloodless, condescending campaign; Hillary’s attempt at an Elizabeth Warren impression isn’t going well; All hail Hillary Milhouse Clinton; No, Hillary Clinton is NOT "inevitable" - unless she has the "courage" to "come out of the closet".

Insurance, Banking, and Finance: Effects on Policyholders

    in Current Events

When Congresses main income did not come from Lobbyist or fundraising activites, perhaps loyalty to American Citizens came easier. While Main Street has been sleeping or convinced they too could become a part of the 1% by the many dangling carrots before them, basic Civil Rights have been tossed by the wayside, this includes protections for those injured in car accidents.  Join me, ESTRA in talking about how Insurance, Banking, and Finance are having the effect of eliminating payment to Policyholders on claims.

    Mana Talk - republic lobbyist

    in Politics

I am bringing power back to our voices via my new show called Mana Talk.  Right now we’ve got some crazy-nasty-ass legislators, judiciaries and executives that are swaying and pulling the naïve and easily manipulated in our country in a direction that is not going to last for any of us.

I will be your man in the trenches, on point, and in the epicenter of what’s truly needed to bring our nation and the planet out of the heinous direction it’s heading.

It’s about time that we demand far more sanity, sensibility, and real fairness from all our public servants on behalf of the greater republic (not the 1%/corporations)… And seriously – who’s the public servant?

I will not stop until ridiculous laws and bills like Citizens United (a contravening title), Right to Work (paradoxical phrase), Corporate Person-hood (just sounds wrong), and some new stifling voter suppressing laws and other ass-backward laws and dark-aged bills must be completely dismantled and abolished from the United States. I will do what I can to put the needs of the U.S. republic and this planet as a heartfelt purpose and as a priority, but I can’t do it alone – we’ve all got to take the proper actions.

Please keep in mind that this is my first show, and it may not fly steady on the first go-round.  With that being obviouis... I will be very open to brutal corrective criticism by whoever provides it.  However, I will also do the same to whomever, if I deem fit.

So, please join my blogtalk every Tuesday and Thursday night at 9PM PST!

    Mahalo nui loa,

    Jimmy Young

    P.S: Mana = Power

Whether you are Conservative, Liberal or somewhere in between, if you live in, or want to maintain a  reasonable rural presence in America, this show has something for you. After all, do we really need another strip mall or postage stamp lot development at every bend on the country road?

Unions: Built by American Workers & Workers Now Helps GOP Lobbyist Crush Unions

    in Politics Progressive

It is time Americans take down the GOP veil of deceit and work once again to strengthen American Unions.  Unions are responsible for everything good about working class Americans way of life. GOP lobbyist are responsible for everything that has contributed to the crushing of American unions. The top 1% of Americans own 42 percent of the USA. Without unions being in American history, think about what America would look like today. Our soldiers are on food stamps all across America. A lady dies in Florida because of lack of finances to purchase life saving drugs. A lady dies in New Jersey, while sleeping in her vehicle, getting rested up so she could work a second shift on her full time job. Unions are representative of workers. The union is a collective body that speaks and negotiates the wishes of workers to CEOs and politicians. Lobbyist are a collective body that speaks and negotiates the wishes of CEOs to politicians.

    Without unions would USA have:

    Ended child labor

40 hour work week and paid overtime

Worker's comp benefits for workers injured on the job

Unemployment insurance for workers who lose their jobs

A guaranteed minimum wage for workers

    Pensions for workers

    Healthcare insurance for workers

Paid sick leave, vacations, and holidays as standard benefits for most workers

the right for public sector workers to collectively bargain

    Occupational Safety and Health Act

    Family Medical Leave Act

Lobbyist are there for American Legislative Exchange Council, who are a body of corporations, headed up by CEOs whose goal is to develop wealth through massive unemployment of the American worker. This happens because of the GOP.  GOP protects CEOs with laws to outsource US jobs, and bring in Foreign workers to do jobs, claiming Americans won't do the jobs, or can't do the jobs. Call this crap!

Have they been forgotten in all of this?  NOW is your chance to sound off!  Call or write and let us know your opinion on the charter bill that will be voted on TOMORROW in the House! Got questions?  We'll do our best to answer those too!!
