As a housewife, Carole Dean, took a $20 bill and turned it into a $50 million a year industry when she coined the phrase “short ends” and began buying and selling film left over from production. She was instrumental in the birth of the Hollywood independent film community which took advantage of her discounted raw stock. In 1992, Carole created the Roy W. Dean Grant which has provided filmmakers with millions of dollars in goods and services and played a crucial role in establishing the careers of our most important documentary filmmakers.
Carole is the author of The Art of Film Funding: Alternative Financing Concepts, now in its second edition, and The Art of Manifesting: Creating Your Future. She is the executive producer for Women Behind the Camera, BAM 6.6, American Chain Gang and Step Away From the Stone. Carole is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award 2012 from the Women's International Film & Television Showcase (TheWIFTS), and is also a partner with Indiegogo raising over a half million dollars with filmmakers.

Thinking outside the box is all about changing the way your look at your financial situation. Eliminate negativity. The thing that will hold you back from thinking outside the box more than anything else is negativity. Consistently telling yourself that you can't think creatively or vetoing every idea as too "out there" is going to severely limit what you come up with. Consider what it is that you tell yourself about your ideas. When you come up with that amazing book idea do you immediately think "I could never write that?" That is a surefire what to ensure that you never do write that. Whenever you find yourself responding negatively to your ideas, replace the negative thought with a positive or neutral thought. For example: if you found yourself thinking "I'm never going to be able to entice advertisers with these incentives" stop yourself and say "I'm going to test out how these incentives work to get us better advertising faithfulness." Study another industry. This will help to show you how people outside your chosen field operate and give you ideas you can incorporate into your field. The industry could be completely different from yours, or have some overlap, but it should be different enough to give you a fresh perspective on your own. For example: the ad person might take a look at psychology topics or look into how the businesses they're asking for ads from operate. The novelist might read outside their chosen field (YA) looking at nonfiction, mysteries, and the classics for inspiration. Jim and Jennifer are thrilled to talk to Chuck Wang. Chuck was born in Taiwan, raised in St. Louis, MO., and graduated from San Diego State University with a BA in International Business. He is proud to be the son of two dedicated successful immigrant serial restaurateurs. He is inspired by his little brother, David, every day. In 1997, Chuck established a litigation support startup’s presence in San Diego. Having done so in an extremely vertical niche market within 13 months led to a public relations and marketing position at a local digital imaging firm (cutting edge tech at the time). Chuck pivoted and took the entrepreneurial leap in October 1998 and hasn’t looked back. The Inspired Works Podcast is Chuck’s newest venture and gives him the opportunity to dedicate his life to helping others get it right. He believes that the only way to pay forward a life worth living is through impactful service to others. Chuck loves to fly sail planes, ride motorcycles, scuba dive, solve mechanical problems, dance to hip hop when no one is watching, listen to rap music, and play with little fat bulldogs. Check out his website including some of the enlightening interviews he has done (one of which is with Freedom For All co-host Jennifer): http://inspired.works/

"Dear Senator Rockefeller,
"F" - Congrats Jay! Ref your Keystone vote, I knew you would have to hose us one more time before leaving office.
Tonight - the Hon. Elizabeth Letchworth joins us to discuss the strategy involved in the Keystone XL Pipeline failed vote and why she's glad it failed yesterday.
Also, Republicans in both the House and the Senate prepare to stop Obama’s planned executive amnesty - how? Through government funding bills. Americans are demanding that Congress defund Obama's unconstitutional actions NOW. But when will be the best time for Congress to snap the purse shut? All that and MIT prof Jonathan Gruber's revelations of deliberate deception re Obamacare and you, the "stupid" American.
Well, the hits keep coming! The US Senate shotdown funding for th XL Pipeline yesterday. I never thought I would say this but this is a great move by Republicans in the Senate. We will talk about it today on the show, tell your friends. Immigration is turning into a nightmare for the president and I think he knows it. If he move forward the backlash from Republicans, conservatives and urban America will be considerable.Obamacare, is going into full force next year, all Republicans have to do is remind Americans of who is responsible for their misery. A full fledged PR campaign reminding Americans of the people that designed, supported, voted for, and signed the Affordable Care Act. TV ads, Radio Ads, Billboards, Mailers, An ad blitz to remind people that their insurance cost went up due to the ACA and those responsible.
The time has come to plan your work and work your plan. So much #emphasis is put on business #planning for start-up businesses. Obviously, it is significantly important to lay out your strategies, finances, and goals prior to opening your doors. But what about after you open? A well-thought-out plan is a living, breathing document designed to improve your business success over the long haul. The power is in how you will use your plan. If a new business owner is going to stick his or her plan on a shelf to collect dust, then I would argue that writing the plan is hardly worth the effort. While the process is worthwhile, the true magic happens as owners use the plan to adjust their strategies to achieve concrete and measurable goals. Many new owners are indented to write their plan because their #funding is riding on it. Banks and other traditional funders rely on the information provided in the plan to make their decision. There are many more uses for the plan than just getting funding, albeit that funding is definitely an important use. The successful business owners I know, whether large or small, use their plans to #provide the benchmarks of their business. Discuss the need for timely, appropriate treatment for serious mental illness (SMI) through AOT programs. Your input is invited at (347)857-3293. Most families experiencing mental health crisis agree that their mentally disabled loved ones would be able to avoid psychotic episodes if the patients were faithful to their mental health treatment program and took their meds. However, many Americans with SMI are untreated, some because they have no health insurance that covers mental disfunctions, and others because patients refuse to accept treatment and take prescribed meds.
Assisted outpatient treatment (AOT) programs mandate continued psychiatric treatment and provide subsistence assistance (food and housing) for Americans with SMI. AOT programs reduce homelessness, arrests and incarceration, hospitalization, and deaths caused by the lack of treatment. That means less crime and safer communities, lower prison costs, and restoration to wholesome living for many sick people.
We congratulate the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), which endorsed unanimously the “authorization, implementation, appropriate funding, and consistent use of assisted outpatient treatment (AOT) laws to ensure treatment in the least restrictive setting possible for individuals whose illness prevents them from otherwise accessing such care voluntarily.” The IACP represents more than 20,000 members in more than 100 countries (see more at the Treatment Advocacy Center website). Nobody knows the needs of people with SMI like their psychiatrists, their families and police. With few exceptions, they agree that AOT would make ours a safer and more humane society. Please call and give your opinions on air.
