I was a guest on Sirius XM's NBA show today, which was co-hosted by former Memphis Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins.
Turning the tables, I opened the segment -- even though I was the interviewee -- by asking Hollins why he wasn't in Detroit taking command of the Pistons after the firing of Maurice Cheeks.
Hollins came right out and said he is interested in the job, but that nobody from Detroit had reached out to contact him.
Hollins also revealed that he expects his old team to make a cost-cutting move before the deadline, because certain players are going to achieve bonus money that will move the Grizzlies above the luxury tax threshold.
Give a listen to what was quite the newsy interview.
Lionel Messi, the legend! Lionel Messi has broken the all-time La Liga scoring record with now 252 goals in La Liga, and counting. With rumblings of Messi being "unhappy" with Barcelona, it leaves great debate where Messi lands as an all-time great in one club. We will discuss this historic mark in his career, plus all of the La Liga roundup and we again talk Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid.
In the Barclays Premier League, Chelsea continue to dominate, Arsenal struggled against Manchester United, Manchester City pulls off a nail biter against Swansea City. We will also discuss the Bundesliga and the Milan derby. Plus UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League Matchday 5!
Plus, the draw for the 2015 Copa America in Chile will be done tomorrow. We will preview football's oldest tournament. 347-637-3859 is the number to call. You can also Skype into the show or tweet us directly @BDSIRNOFOULPLAY. Live at 6:00 PM EST/11:00 PM UK.
Aaron Wilburn brings the house down with laughter... and he does it without four-letter words or making his audience feel uncomfortable.
A feature on the Gaither Homecoming Tour and videos, he has endeared himself to thousands of laughter-loving fans with his own down-home brand of humor, as he talks about his southern roots, his family, children and his faith. It's common to see a grandfather laughing along with his teen-agers and children. As Aaron says, "There is no generation gap with laughter".
Little would one expect that the same buy that brings people to tears with laughter also has written songs that have touched the lives of so many. His gift of songwriting has brought with it Dove Awards as well as Grammy nominations. In 2005 Aaron was honored by his home state as the Alabama Music Hall of Fame put an exhibit of his life and music on display in it's honored halls in the company of such notables as gospel singer Jake Hess and the queen of gospel music, Vestal Goodman. They are surrounded by the likes of Tammy Wynette, Lionel Richie and Percy Sledge just to name a few.
In 2005 David Johnson of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame named Aaron Wilburn the official host/MC of the future Alabama Music Hall of Fame induction ceremonies.
Whether he is on stage in an arena surrounded by 15,000 or in a banquet setting for a corporation or church, Aaron Wilburn is at home. If you tell him, "I loved your act", he'll probably tell you, "That's no act, that's who I am". And to borrow his famous three words, "He's funny!, bless his heart!"

Really good memories have been made in Baltimore - and you're about to HEAR one of them on 10/23/2014 :) Lionel Lyles has been firmly entrenched in the Charm City music scene for YEARS - even when he was attending North Carolina Central University.
He formed his Quintet back in Morgan State University days - in 2000. The worked that he turned out with his band has been noted in our region and beyond. When "The Nightlife: The September Sessions" arrived on the scene, we were all convinced in town that Lionel was on his way. But, he was intent on education. He wanted no false steps in a journey that he considers both a musical one - and a spiritual one.
His NEW CD "At the Precipice", will re-awaken those Jazz juices in you. Lionel has a way of conveying "the masters" that he reveres in a refreshing way. He's young and hip to the current music scene, but his preference - fortunately for us - is Jazz. Oh, YES, that's what you'll hear on the next "Hybrid Jazz!"
Matter-of-fact, you'll get a sneak preview of Lionel's new work - he's sharing it with us! And what we have in the mix to coincide with our friends's visit: artists from both Baltimore AND Florida. Where the memories have been wonderful - and where the memories WILL BE so! You'll find something that you like - that's a promise.
Join us in The Chat Room at one p.m. Eastern time on 10/23. Lionel drops by in the third hour of the show. It's an exciting time for a good friend - let's celebrate!

He was a primary dancer and main choreographer for Madonna's Who's That Girl? Tour in 1987. He served as choreographer for Jamie Kennedy's MTV sitcom, Blowin' Up. He also choreographed Three Six Mafia's performance on the 78th Academy Awards, when they won the Oscar for best original song for their song "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp".

Today's podcast will be solely about NBA free agency. Two full days in, plenty of players have signed with new teams, some have stayed with their old teams and the rumors are flying around by the hour. I'll give my take on a lot of the players who have signed already as well as the latest rumors. Is it worth it to pay that little extra amount of money to get the player you really want? Is Lionel Hollins the answer in Brooklyn?
- USA loses to Belgium 2-1 and gets knocked out of the World Cup. Tim Howard had a historic performance with 16 saves, (Most in World Cut game since 1966)
- 19-year-old Nick Kyrgios defeats #1 seed Rafael Nadal in 4 sets. (Wimbledon). Andy Murray eliminated a day later, two top seeds.
- Jason Kidd headed to Milwaukee as head coach, leaves Brooklyn after they failed to give him control over basketball operations.
- Lionel Hollins headed to Brookyn to replace Kidd as head coach (How does he fit?)
- Jimmy Graham deemed as a TE and will be paid $5 million less with the franchise tag. (Surprising?)
