The American Apostasy - Part 2

    in Christianity

Webster's 1828 Dictionary defines apostasy as "an abandonment of what one has professed; a total desertion, or departure from one's faith or religion."  It cannot be denied we are in the midst of the great American apostasy.  Just in case anyone has any doubts, Ligonier Ministeries commissioned a poll through LifeWay Research to measure the theological beliefs of Americans.  This research poll reveals the revival of the old heresies among Americans.  In this podcast we focus more on the results of the survey in relation to Evangelicals to show this apostasy is not just among liberals but those considered conservatives.  Before there can be change we must understand the problems we face.  However, this series is not just a complaint but proclaims the solution.  This solution is a return to the historical doctrines and practice of the Church.  You will be challenged to become part of the solution instead of enabling the apostasy.  But it will take courage, dedication and conviction.  Are you willing to take up the challenge?

To learn more about this poll please read Christianity Today's article New Poll Finds Evangelicals’ Favorite Heresies.

    in Finance

As a former columnist for a national newspaper in Jamaica (my country of origin), a former contributor to the Tampa Tribune, The Christian Voice, LifeWay Magazine, EHow.com, Former Editor of a national Airline's newsletter - I have seen the power of the press up close.  Let us not forget, that press coverage is also often, free publicity.

When Evangelicals attack the "Holy Bible"

    in Politics Conservative

Recently Lifeway the christian book corporation has decided to dicontinue sunday school material for material based upon the KJV for children.  Ironically the company did some statiscal survey's showing that despite the best efforts of evangelicals.  the majority of Americans have and own a KJV as their "Holy Bible"  Which was the only identification of the KJV back in the 1800's.   If american baptist love the KJV why are they attempting to stop their children from being educated about it and learning the language.  Why should a christian bookstore meant to educate christians, refuse to educate the lay people?  This and other religious news and views on Bible Smack Radio!!!

CLN: When Pastor's are Hurt in the Church

    in Christianity

Not all the news about pastors is discouraging. Pastors feel privileged to be called to their places of ministry. They have a deep love for those they shepherd. Most of them could not conceive of doing anything else.

But please hear me: Many pastors are hurting.

LifeWay Research conducted a national survey of Protestant pastors. Among the questions they asked were two related to the hurts I noted above.

    The Discouragement Factor

One of the key symptoms of the pain experienced by pastors is discouragement. Over one-half (55%) of pastors are presently discouraged. I suspect that if we surveyed pastors over just a few months, we would find that almost all of them experience deep discouragement.
