Service: A Path to Happiness and Love

    in Relationships

Thank you for joining us on Happiness Index, as we continue to deepen the conversation about service.  The theme for the show today is, Service: A Path to Happiness and Love.   We suggest that if you want happiness and love service is the path to take. You want a better community, then give of yourself. You want a happier life then find someone to serve.  Examples of great leaders are, Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, Buddha, Muhammad, Jesus, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Mother Teresa, Princess Diana to name but a few. All these leaders have one thing in common they served and went beyond a call of duty.  One of the better-known benefits of serving is the impact on the community and the person who is being of service. People who volunteer are the glue that holds a community together.  The beautiful thing about service is that the person who gives of him or herself receives the benefit of giving.  Giving and receiving are the same. As we continue this topic of Service, we will be happy, because we will serve as we encourage you to serve.  The benefits of service:  1. Service connects you to others 2. It helps you to make new friends and contacts 3.  You gain new skills 4.  Be happy find someone and somewhere to serve.  Dr. Martin Luther King said, Everyone has the power for greatness -- not for fame, but greatness, because greatness is determined by service.  Service is a matter of devotion and love!  You can share your wisdom on this topic by calling (347) 539-5818

What does love have to do with happiness? Featuring Kokomon Clottey

    in Relationships

Thank you for tuning in to “Happiness Index”.  Our conversation continues to focus on love; today we will explore “What does love have to do with happiness?  We are only a few days away from Valentine’s Day and many will be disappointed with their love ones, because they may believe that they did not get what they wanted from their love one on Valentine’s Day.  It has been said that the day after Valentine’s Day, more candy is found in the garbage than the day after Halloween.  Why do you think that would happen? A partner will give candy to a love one to communicate his or her deep and abiding love. That love one is not able to receive that message, because of their desire for something that he or she may feel is more valuable than candy.  “What does love have to do with it?”  Why aren’t we happy?  Is love the source of our happiness?  Thank you for tuning in to “Happiness Index” with Kokomon Clottey.  Tune in and turn on to happiness!

Hope & Service: A Path to Happiness

    in Relationships

Welcome to Happiness Index.  Today we will continue to explore with you the concept of Hope & Service as a path to happiness.  Hope is an optimistic attitude of mind based on an expectation of positive outcomes related to events and circumstances in one's life or the world at large. Service is a valuable action, deed, or effort performed to satisfy a need or to fulfill a demand.  When we have hope and we are in service.  We are in a positive state of mine that the action or deed that we are performing for another will have a positive outcome. We believe that what we are doing will make a difference and as a result we are happy. Joseph Addison said, Three grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do, something to love, and something to hope for.  Join the conversation and share your wisdom on Hope & Service: A Path to Happiness by calling (347) 539-5818.

Love and Service: Key to Happiness featuring Aeeshah & Kokomon Clottey

    in Relationships

We are in the middle of Black History Month and one day after Valentine's Day.  Did you love the sweet gifts that your love ones extended to you?  Were you able to return the love that was extended to you?  You are listening to Happiness Index and we are continuing our conversation on "Love and Service: Key to Happiness."  Dr. King was clear about  service and its power and how we should serve.  He said, “Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”  He was equally clear that as a Black man he would not hate those who would hate him.  He said, “Let no man pull you so low as to hate him.” He deepen his resolve when he said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”   We are encouraging you to take the high road as you are dealing with difficult issues.  When you are in pain or deeply troubled, find someone to serve and that will lift you up and will give you the strength and the sweetness to bring change for yourself and for others.  Thank you for listening to Happiness Index on Blog Talk Radio.  Join me in this conversation and make the world better for all, call (347) 539-5818.
