Author Henry James said, “Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind.” The world needs more kindness, and Orly Wahba, Founder/CEO of Life Vest Inside, a non-profit in NY, is on a mission to Empower and Unite the world with Kindness. Orly is an educator, entrepreneur, and community activist passionate about inspiring people to be the best that they can be. Life Vest Inside inspires people to recognize their potential to affect real change in the world through kindness. Orly began her career as an educator at the Yeshivah of Flatbush in Brooklyn, NY, teaching kids to embrace unity, build their self-esteem, and use their power to influence the world for good. She is often quoted as saying, “Kindness, don’t just do it…LIVE IT!” Yearning to make a larger impact with her philanthropic work, and after being inspired by a Life Vest Inside sign on a plane, Orly founded Life Vest Inside in 2011, with a mission to encourage people to embrace the incredible power of giving and recognize that in times of hardship, kindness, like a life vest, keeps the world afloat. LVI shot to national attention when Orly’s film Kindness Boomerang went viral, with more than 20 million views and coverage in media outlets such as CBS News. Children raised to understand the value of kindness are less likely to bully and more likely to stand up for others. And, the act of being kind increases energy, optimism and happiness – providing an overall improvement in well being. After the interview, go to After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more information.
Terese Rolke knows a thing or two about kindness. In fact she’s a Group Leader and Kindness Ambassador for Life Vest Inside, which is an organization devoted to promoting worldwide kindness. The mission of Life Vest Inside is: To EMPOWER and UNITE the world with KINDNESS. Life Vest Inside equips people worldwide with the necessary tools to recognize their own potential to become a catalyst for positive change in the world. We transform inspiration into action through inspirational media, technology, education, and on-the-ground social engagement. I had the honor of interviewing Orly Wahba, the Founder and CEO and you can listen to that here. World Kindness Day is Nov 13, and to kick it off Life Vest Inside features their Worldwide Dance for Kindness. Locally, this occurred Nov 8 on Broad Street in the heart of downtown Red Bank with approximately 150 people who participated in this choreographed dance which included an original song written especially for the event. Terese’s group was one of 100 locations spanning 50 countries, dancing the same dance to the same song on the same day. Cool, right? Why care about kindness? Treating people with kindness is the right thing to do. Besides that, there’s science behind acts of kindness. Like most medical antidepressants, kindness stimulates the production of serotonin which heals your wounds, calms you down, and makes you happy! After the interview, check out After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.
