SPONSORED BY MARK PITTMAN--Continuing our discussion on turning the tables on ignorance and hatred to our benefit. One of the problems that we have is our willingness to overlook the racism and discrimination in the actions and state of many things. Self-inflicted ignorance and blindess are more dangerous to our people because we are our own enslavers when we act under those terms. How do we turn the tables on the Grand Desgin of the dominant society? First, by removing the blindfolds and acknowledging the elephant in the room. Secondly, by loving ourselves enough to reject their standards of what our success should be, and by calling a troll a troll...no blinders on. SPONSORED BY MARK PITTMAN--If you've been a listener of the On The Edge Show wih Kaydee Barnett & Friends, you know two things--A) that we are avid in our efforts to bring awareness and promote restoration to the African-American community by facing the ugly reality of its state head on with a no-holds-barred approach..and B) you know that the amazing, powerful and no-holds-barred music of Paul "PR" Robinson, singer of the amazing singles "So Tired" and "Catch 'EM, are always played somewhere along the line of our broadcast. PR, like so many of us, is tired of the tragedies and injustices that are inflicted upon the African-American community. He boldly tackles issues such as racism, discrimination and Black-on-Black crimes in his amazing single, "So Tired", attacks gun violence in the hip-hop tuned "Catch 'Em", and touches on white supremacy in what is considered a controversial song entitled "Willie Lynch". Join us live @ 10:30 pm EST to hear his thoughts on the state of Black America and the solutions we should strive to achieve. Call 347-327-9967.
SPONSORED BY MARK PITTMAN--This may be repetitive. Perhaps your reaction to racist crimes, endless heckling, preudicial plots and major schemes in motion for racial genocide have gotten you to points past disgust and fatigue..whatever the situation, one thing is clear. Black America is still in disarray and its still ripe for the picking of a very racist world. No amount of self-appointed blindfolding is going to solve the problem or stop the bulldozing...so we come back to yet another cyclic point---what do we do about it? Storming the mountaintop of a world that will never let you in is not the answer, but how do we take some major plays from the playbook of the Grand Design and play a different game? One that actually BENEFITS US> Join in tonight at 10:30 pm EST with your thoughts. Call 347-327-9967.
SPONSORED BY MARK PITTMAN--Getting to the bottom of our problems in the African-American community means tackling the most basic of problems at our very foundation. Comparing the state of Black America as we know it today versus what it once was may seem like a tedious job because of the jam-packed mass of tragedy, disgust, helplessness and destruction that is showcased in the media. If we take a few steps back, the biggest problem that launched the explosions is our internal wedges. What we once viewed as non-negotiable sacred fistures in our life has rapidly become negotiable bargaining chips for the nearest quick fix. Where did things go so wrong? Did it start with the shutdown of intracommunication between the Black man and woman against the world? Join in tonight at 10:30 pm EST by calling 347-327-9967 with your thoughts.
SPONSORED BY MARK PITTMAN--We will be continuing on in our barriers against Black economics series. Tonight we are touching on the role that our misdirected or lack of outrage about the continuous brutalization of our community plays as a barrier in the rebuilding of our own economic system---the crucial central base for the restoration of Black America. The messages by the dominant society to African-Americans is clear is ALL of their actions--
LOOK FOR HELP FROM A WHITE PERSON & GET BRUTALLY MURDERED--(Renisha McBride, Jonathan Ferrell)
STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS/STAND YOUR GROUND AGAINST WHITES & GET BRUTALLY MURDERED--(Trayvon Martin, Jordan Davis,)
STAND ON THE SIDEWALK MINDING YOUR BUSINESS WHILE BLACK & GET BRUTALLY MURDERED--(Eric Garner)
Are passive responses to aggressive and demolishing actions one of our biggest barriers to restoration? Join in tonight at 10:30 pm EST with your thoughts by calling 347-327-9967.
SPONSORED BY MARK PITMAN--Conituing our series on breaking down the barriers against Black Economics..tonight, we discuss the effects of out mindsets as a barrier in rebuilding our economic system. Whether it's the hyper-skepticism we practice among each other, the displaced senses of entitlement to free products and services sold by our own, our lack of understanding behind our own entrpremeur's reasons for doing what they do, or any of the other many fragments we need to repair, how do they affect our rebuilding of our economics, and how do we resolve them as issues? Join in tonight to share your thoughts by calling 347-327-9967 at 10:30 pm EST.
SPONSORED BY MARK PITTMAN--The State of the Black Community is in desperate need of a rebirth, and we are overwhelmed by the myriad of different pieces of broken social fixtures that need repair. Through all of the ugly muck of our problems however, the need for a centralized "headquarters" to dispurse the necessary help to the individual fixtures is eminent. The centralized headquarters is Black Economics. Finances, businesses, networks and customized services designed, owned and operated to fix the unique needs of the African-American community. This week, we will touch on the barriers that prevent Black economics from happening. Tonight we touch on the direct effects of our misunderstanding and under-utilization of our fights under the law as one barrier in the way of rebuilding Black Economics.
SPONSORED BY MARK PITTMAN--What makes $1.1 billion-dollars' spending power and $47K average salaries still equal Ground Zero in Black economics? Perhaps the various and unique mindsets of the African-American community plays the largest role in the barrier that blocks our economic success. Can addressing the negative effects of the mindset bring a positive return and open gateways to establishing that much needed foundation for restoration? Join in tonight with your thoughts. The most important part of resolving a problem is addressing the most imminent threat in the problem. Domestic violence is a problem with many sub-factors of damage, but the first problem is usually to put out the abuser's fire and get the victims to safety before we can begin the road to healing. Abusers ALWAYS have a story behind their role...they came from an abusive childhood where they either observed or were victims of abuse themselves, they were bullied without support, etc. For African-AMericans, not only are the usual suspects of factors play a part, but many more unique additions to the pool come into play. Join me tonight at 10:30 pm EST to address the problems behind the abusers, and discuss solutions. Call in at 347-327-9967 to join the discussion.
Violence is a plague in our society and it comes in many forms--gang violence, domesic violence, and gun violence just to name a few. More and more children are being injured or killed at a higher rate than medical illnesses, and the African-American community has the highest occurences. WIth all of the anti-violence advocacy groups and anti-violence movements and laws in place, why are the fatalities rising to this issue? Join me tonight at 9:00 pm EST as Kaydee interviews Chris Curry, producer/artist and creator of the amazing "Stop The Violence Movement" video series. Chris discusses the plight of violence in our neighborhoods, and the sad reality of struggling to get more involvement from the people this affects the most. Tune in at 347-327-9967.
