National Liberty Memorial with Maurice Barboza

    in History

Maurice A. Barboza is the founder and CEO of National Mall Liberty Fund DC, a non-profit authorized by Public Law 112-239 to establish a memorial to African American contributions to liberty during the Revolutionary War. In September 2014, Public Law 113-176 made the National Liberty Memorial eligible for a site in Washington's Monumental Core. He said, "this memorial will remind Americans that it was their vision for America that prevailed."

Mr. Barboza has written opinion pieces and spoken extensively about the 30-year quest to construct the memorial and his aunt's trail-blazing battle in the mid-1980s for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution. A 2013 book, "Sacrificing Soldiers on the National Mall," by Kristin Haas, and a recent article in the Washington Post, "After 30 years, a site for memorial," by Tom Jackman, tell the story.

On college campuses across America students began to push for the end to this South African policy. In the 1980's Annette Lantos, wife of Congressman Tom Lantos (deceased of California)  invited Roscoe to join the Congressional Human Rights Caucus' Committee of 21. This bi-partisan caucus of the United States House of Representative was organized by Congressman Lantos, who was a survivor of the Camps during the Holocaust. The Committee of 21 is a program for women Members of the House and Senate and wives of Members of Congress. The Committee encourages the women to "adopt" victims of human rights abuse. The caucus first focused on the ill-treatment of Jews within the Soviet Union. When the Human Right Caucus directed its attention to South Africa, it became involved inthecase of Murphy Morobe a black South African ANC leader in the fight against apartheid. Roscoe was asked to "adopt" Mr. Morobe through the Committee of 21. Mr. Morobe and two of his colleagues in South African prisons escaped and sought refuge at the U.S, Consulate in Johannesburg.

National & International Roundtable Welcomes R.L. Pelshaw

    in Current Events

Bob Pelshaw was a successful Midwestern real estate broker, developer, and consultant specializing in free-standing retail projects for national and regional retailers, as well as private shopping centers, office buildings, multi-family projects, and leadership development. His twenty-five year career included service as a state officer for the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) plus over $600 Million in career transactions. Along the way he also invested in, or consulted for, various other types of businesses including laundromats, a janitorial company, brokerage, convenience stores, grocery stores, retail stores, car wash, a restaurant, barber shops, construction companies, a resort hotel, property management, rental properties, self-storage facilities, a health club, marketing organizations, and others. Pelshaw served numerous non-profit groups including being a Director and Officer for the local Big Brothers Big Sisters Chapter, his church, and most notably as an Associate Trainer for Dr. John C. Maxwell’s global non-profit ministry Equip. Through Equip, Pelshaw has taught leadership globally to thousands. The Great Recession found Pelshaw financially over-extended. Coupled with trusting the wrong people, and some bad business decisions made, Pelshaw suffered a catastrophic loss of a multi-million dollar asset base. In his efforts to stay afloat and “rob Peter to pay Paul” Pelshaw stupidly temporarily misused $135,000 of SBA loan proceeds which caused him to receive a felony and serve a ten-month sentence at Leavenworth Federal Prison Camp. Since serving his time he has focused on providing consulting services, writing, public speaking, and public service. He is also the author of “Raising Up The Champion Within You: David & Goliath Grown-Up Version” and the soon to be released “Time Management is Dead.” Pelshaw is about to be re-married and start a family.

Libertarian Ann - How Psychologists Subvert Movements

How Psychologists Subvert Democratic Movements and  why I never got my masters or Ph.D in Psychology. I was out of there with the BA degree, and knew to run as far away from more insane outdate education! I knew I had to educate myself from here on out cause these people were in uncharted terrritory, adn also stupid. l despise "credintials" all that tells me is I'm not hiring you basically. Cause I always want someone is un PROGRAMMED. DUH. In 2005, as a clinical psychology graduate student, it had become apparent to me that the psychology profession was increasingly about meeting the needs of the "power structure" to maintain the status quo so as to gain social position, prestige, and other rewards for psychologists. A degree in the nature of oneself without becoming fully realized first? I mean the arrogance alone was too much for me tocomprehend. I'd never assume I knew better thank ANY other human, much less a student I was lecturing, or a dog in the park, or a baby 3 months old. I knew they are all 3 smarter than me and I can learn from them, not the other way around!
