Religion has been a source of both solace and suffering for many lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans. For while most LGBT Americans have been raised in an organized religion — and many continue to cherish their faith community — too many have been forced to leave those communities behind because of condemnation of LGBT people.
And yet in recent years, a growing number of organized religious groups in the United States have issued statements officially welcoming LGBT people as members. Many religious organizations also have taken supportive stands on the issues that affect LGBT people in America, such as the fight for freedom from discrimination, the solemnizing of same-sex marriage and the ordination of openly LGBT clergy.
LGBT Real Talk Radio welcomes the Rev. Valarie Oliver as our special guest for next weeks show on Religion in the LGBT Community. You won't want to miss this very informative show.

Mormon church backs LGBT rights -- with one condition
Mormon church wants to call a partial truce.
Convening a rare press conference on Tuesday at church headquarters in Salt Lake City, Mormon leaders pledged to support anti-discrimination laws for gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people, as long the laws also protect the rights of religious groups. What are your thoughts? plus Mega Star Mega Feath Glenn Drover joins us in the studio. The Notes Behind The Music Weds.
In exchange, the Mormon church wants gay rights advocates -- and the government -- to back off.
Many LGBT people — particularly youth and seniors — experience higher rates of rejection, bullying, harassment, general mistreatment and even violence from the people and institutions that should be protecting them. The enormous effort of … hiding in order to avoid rejection from their families, employers, churches, schools, friends and neighbors can create an even greater sense of anxiety, fear and isolation. The LGBT population also has a higher tendency for suicide and self-harm.
Please join us in the studio on March 24, 2015 at 8:30pm est as we talk about this very important topic.

Join Vaccine Rights Attorney Alan Phillips, J.D. (co-host Dr. Sherri Tenpenny is still on sabbatical) as he discusses the end of vaccine religious exemptions in Australia, and how powerful American freedom of religion is, at least for now; an article claiming that the Head of the FBI's anthrax investigation (post 9/11) was a sham; how best to get a legal argument to your state representative, when the legal argument explains why a vaccine bill seeking to restrict non-medical exemptions is unconstitutional, to discourage the representative from supporting the bill; why some state constitutions may require the state to offer a religious exemption even though the federal Constitution probably does not; whether or not language in some state constitutions about religious liberty includes philosophical beliefs; and more! Cruz vows to shun negative campaigning
“There may be other candidates who choose to throw rocks in my direction,” the GOP presidential hopeful said in an interview aired Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “I’m not going to engage in the personal mudslinging, in the negative attacks on people’s character.” Cruz last week became the first Republican to officially enter the presidential race. But he insisted that, despite his reputation as an archconservative and a bomb-thrower, he had avoided personal attacks over the past two years in the Senate.
(CNN) Indiana Gov. Mike Pence says concerns that his state's new "religious freedom" law will allow businesses to turn away LGBT customers is the result of a "tremendous amount of misinformation and misunderstanding." But he refused Sunday to answer at least six yes-or-no questions about whether the measure legalizes discrimination against gays and lesbians. And he said he won't support legislation that would clean up the public relations mess by adding protections based on sexual orientation to Indiana's anti-discrimination laws.

(co-host Dr. Sherri Tenpenny is on sabbatical until the end of April) as he discusses new vaccine restrictions in Australia and some differences in Australian and American law; why pediatrician Annie Sparrow backed out of a vaccine debate with Attorney Phillips at the last minute, and why it's likely that pro-vaccine advocates will *never* agree to debate anti-vaccine advocates; why the vaccine controversy is every bit as much a legal issue as it is a medical issue; what to do when your child is vaccinated against your wishes; why all states and the federal government offer medical exemptions, and what qualifies for a medical exemption; and more! Join Vaccine Rights Attorney Alan Phillips, J.D. (Vaccine Author and Researcher Dr. Sherri Tenpenny, D.O. is on sabbatical until late April) as he discusses studies documenting vaccine failure--outbreaks in highly vaccinated populations; the Constitutionality of H.R. 933, which seeks to require vaccinations as a condition for participation in any Head Start or Early Head Start program, with no non-medical exemptions; the possibility that some state Constitutions may require vaccine religious exemptions; why vaccine laws and bills requiring a "vaccine education" to get a vaccine exemption are unconstitutional; and more!
