Join Dr. Danna Mckellar on Reinvention Radio to ponder the question "Can We REINVENT America?"
We will consider possibilities as well as compare and contrast educational systems abroad:
Are our schools equipping us to compete in this global market?
Does racism and sexism prevent us from fairly and adequately educating every American citizen? What story does the school to prison pipeline statistics tell about the results of our educational system?
Great Britain resigned this week as a super power. What does this mean?
What happens to professional football players when their playing days are over? If you're Bryan Scott, SO MUCH HAPPENS! Bryan is an amazing businessman who stops by to talk to us today on Sports Palooza Radio about his career and his entrepreneurial spirit. The former Atlanta Falcon, recently took over the Atlanta market of TITLE Boxing Club and has also appeared on Shark Tank for another business venture.
We can't wait to talk to this former NFLer about his career, his businesses and life off the gridiron!

With passion and unwavering ambition, Sally Larsen finds the perfect balance of health and beauty with Sally B’s Skin Yummies, her handmade line of natural and organic skincare products and makeup. A firm believer that health and beauty are dependent upon one another, the self-confessed “product girl” began making her own good-for-your products in 2003 when she noticed a void in the organic skincare market. What began as a personal journey to replace her chemical-rich beauty products quickly turned into an in-demand hobby among her friends, motivating Sally to found Sally B’s Skin Yummies in 2005.
Launching Sally B’s Skin Yummies with just two products, her now famous Shea Butter Bar and Healing Hand Butter, Sally established Skin Yummies to share the positive benefits of a healthy beauty regime with the world and also stake her own personal claim in the organics industry, the “unofficial Larsen family business.” While she wasn’t exactly raising bees and harvesting her own honey like her father, she spent countless hours researching and testing organic and natural ingredients as alternatives to preservatives, chemical additives and harsh irritants often found in beauty products. As she learned, created and experimented, her initial small offering grew into a product line of over 30 must-have lotions, potions and other good-for-you creams.
We have a common ancestry, but no longer speak the same languae and many times we don't follow the same culture, but African Americans (those born in America descending from generations of family lineage) and Africans in America (recent imigrants to America) have a grand opportunity to create a global business network, by importing products from Africa and selling them on the American market. Others around the globe are imitating African clothing and artifacts (China, Korea, etc.) and selling them cheaply to African Americans. African American hair care companies that once cornered the market have been bought out by the larger white owned companies such as Revlon, who promptly dominated the world market of crinkly haired people. Can we capitalize on a common heritage, recapture our connection, and create a global economy that enhances the prosperity for both African Americans and Africans in America? Mr. Symon Ogeto of the African Global Chamber of Commerce shares his views on Africa's influence on the global marketplace.

Since NJ is the Garden State, Jersey Fresh takes on a special meaning for those who choose to buy their fruits and veggies locally. Seasonal abundance can be found at the scores of farmer’s markets throughout the state. What’s that you say? You don’t know where to find the nearest farmer’s market and don’t even know the difference between an acorn squash and a fava bean? And how do I cook rhubarb and what do I do with all those blueberries? Problem solved. Chef and culinary instructor Rachel Weston is on the case. Weston is an award-winning journalist with over 20 years of experience as a writer, editor and multimedia content producer. Her work has been in The Washington Post, The Huffington Post, The Gutsy Gourmet column in The Star-Ledger, NJ.com, and Chow.com among others. In 2008, Rachel followed her passion, attended culinary school, and ultimately worked the line at a fine dining restaurant, and was the founding chef at the first pay-what-you-can community cafe on the East Coast. Rachel’s book is New Jersey Fresh: Four Seasons from Farm to Table. It’s a collection of recipe ideas and tips for over 50 types of locally grown produce available at NJ farmer’s markets. She spotlights several markets and offers insights on fruits and veggies, from bok choy and fava beans to blueberries, corn, tomatoes, and peaches. Rachel takes the guesswork out of buying locally and is committed to teaching home cooks about using local and seasonal foods in their kitchens. “I wanted it to be a guide you could throw in your market bag,” she says. The book includes a listing of over 100 farmer's markets in NJ. After the interview, check After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.
