Lewis Hine was the photographer whose early 20th century photos of working children shaped child labor laws in the United States.
For the past seven years, Joe Manning has been conducting the Lewis Hine Project, an effort to track down and interview the descendants of child laborers photographed by Lewis Hine in the early 1900s. His work has resulted in stories about the lives of over 300 of those children. The project has been featured on numerous National Public Radio news and interview programs, and in a lengthy article in Yankee Magazine. It is now also a current exhibit at the Lawrence, Massachusetts History Center.
Join Fieldstone Common host, Marian Pierre-Louis on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 1pm EST as she talks with Joe Manning about this fascinating project.
Welcome to the second edition of LET's Write with host Fran Lewis. Today best selling author and head writer of Murder She Wrote, Tom Sawyer will be joining this panel of distinquished authors which includes best selling author Alan Topol and award winning author Stuart Yates.
Today's discussion will center around creating different settings when writing historical fiction or a murder mystery. How important is the setting to the storyline and how does their main character adjust to the different changes in setting that often occur throughout a book. If their main character could pick anywhere in the world they would like to go in the next book, what would it be and why? How do these authors keep it interesting for readers? What is the importance of mood and dialogue and how do you keep it flowing and not stilted. These topics and more will be discussed when you join Fran Lewis, your host and these distinquished authors of Let's Write.

We are continuing with our "Season of Thanksgiving" series with this broadcast. We've been discussing being thankful in all things (situations and circumstances) that affect our lives. We've had a testimony by one couple of how even in the trials and the storms of life, a change in perspective, a relationship with God and a heart of humility can save a marriage. An attitude of Thanksgiving is something we all have the choice to have, but what are its benefits? Are they for everyone?
Join us for this weeks broadcast and feel free to call in @ (914) 803-4491 to listen and press (1) to speak with the hosts or post in the Live Chat.
