If you've got questions, we've got answers for you! Call us any time to talk about your money, your truck, or anything that helps you become a better you. Today we expand on last weeks idea-- the idea of having a Mastermind group. We played around with this, a few times in the past, and it didn't really work out how we wanted it to. In other words, it was a failure. But we realize that, and know that failures lead to success. So we're announcing that we're trying again, and doing things a bit differently!
Today we talk about the Masterminds we're going to be hosting, how we're going to host them and how you can join! We know it's not going to be easy to stick to the Mastermind schedule, and that there are challenges while being on the road. But that's part of doing the hard work. Step up, commit and learn! Let's Truck!
Kevin and the Tribe have been testing different activity trackers. He's testing out the Fitbit, syncing it to his scale, and checking in on his sleep routine. We talk about the pros and cons of the Fitbit.
We also talk about trying to choose the right tracking device for you. How it comes down to cost and the technology that you're currently comfortable using.
What's important to be tracking? What do you need to know about your body? What's the most accurate way to measure it? How often should you be measuring it? These are all the questions we try to answer on this episode.
We also hear what you're using to track your activity and health. Of course, we take your trucking questions on business, trucking, becoming an owner operator, fuel savings, net profit and other important stuff.
Today we're talking about willpower, and the most recent book that Kevin is reading. We talk about personal challenges, resolutions and having the willpower to meet your goals. Kevin shares his two main short-term goals, and the main lesson he has taken away from the book "Willpower Instinct" by Kelly McGonigal.
Kevin gives you some action steps from this book, and how to assess and understand your own strengths and weaknesses to positively influence your own life and the lives of others.
We talk about how important it is to continue learning, and and our new show called The Road Scholar where we'll be reviewing and discussing books. Of course, we take your calls and talk about how we can put the money you deserve back into your pocket!
Time to get motivated. Let's Truck!
We've been talking a lot about willpower lately, and trying to find out why even though there is so much information available today (on literally anything you want to know!), we don't actually take action.
Kevin talks about how he's read a million books on improving himself, and how he doesn't do all the things that he knows will work. Why not?
The Big Home Run. We talk about what that means, and how we're all looking for the one thing that will put us over the top and make us our best selves. But that doesn't exist. Success doesn't come from one big moment. It comes from doing the right stuff over and over again, and the tiny stuff, the stuff you don't see results from.
We talk about how at the beginning, we try EVERYTHING and work super hard, and so you usually end up hitting the one thing that works. But sometimes, we stop trying that hard. We stop doing the things that worked.
Overnight success really takes busting your butt for 20 years. One tiny change at a time.
Let's get more successful. Let's Truck
Today Kevin got up super early, and had a bit different of a day. During his pre-show work, he started watching Larry Winget's new show on "Whatever it Takes Network". There's so much information here, for free!
We talk about the shift in information sharing, and how now (because of the internet) we have access to so much free information and resources. Sometimes it can be overwhelming, all of the things we could be learning, so we break it down and talk about Kevin's favourite courses, books and resources that he's used.
We need to keep learning, keep improving and make a plan to keep getting better! We're here to help, but you're the main person driving your success forward. You can do it. All you need to do is make the first steps.. even if it's the wrong one, at least you'll be learning what does and doesn't work.
Last week I went on a bit of a rant on regulations and the industry. We thought it went really well, we shared the perspectives of people I don't necessarily agree with, but a good discussion has multiple viewpoints.
Of course this led to some angry emails, and people telling me that I should disappear.. but most importantly it led to today's conversation on leading by example, and using anger in a positive way-- to make positive changes in the world.
So yes, I admit, I am a bit angry with this country, with our industry. When I look back at my life and my father's life as an Owner Operator, and I am inspired by this image of a successful, positive, self-efficient, self-improving, professional man. I want to make this world a better place, like the community my father was part of.
We take your calls and hear your opinions on change and the trucking industry.
If there were two areas of our lives that we need to make positive change in, it's Health and Finances. Finances make it easy to do everything else, and both of these are very easy to measure improvement!
It doesn't mean that relationships and spirituality aren't important-- they absolutely are! But they're much harder to measure, and usually more personal (and so different to everyone).
We talk about the Fair Tax and how we can apply the problems of the new tax systems to our current tax system. Just because we find problems in something that's moving you to improvement, doesn't mean you should stop what you're doing. Instead, keep moving forward. Don't weigh the problems in your improvement higher than the problems in your everyday life!
We take your questions on taxes, trucking, money management, habits, healthy living and becoming an Owner Operator.
A billion people make resolutions, but how do we become the few that stick with them?
It's all about New Years Resolutions today. We know, a lot of us are starting to give up on them or forgotten our resolutions, goals and plans for 2015. We know, a lot of us are rolling into February and living the same way we did last year. But today we want to change that. We want to move into the 5% of people who are choosing to put these goals in writing and persevering.
Today is the day. Just decide to push through on those goals. Even if you quit already, even if you're going to quit again, decide that you're not quitting for good.
We take your calls and hear your resolutions. We also help out with your questions on becoming an owner operator, motors, brakes, suspension, money management, taxes, and so on.
Today we talk about Marketing for small businesses, truckers and entrepreneurs. We reflect on one of Kevin's favourite blogs- Seth Godin's, and use Kevin's experience creating his businesses as examples. We offer some great advice on how to start making your own money, how to make business connections and most importantly how to get the will and motivation to START.
For the truckers out there, we talk about issues and their fixes for brakes, ABS, and gears. We answer A LOT of your questions from our last show on Social Security, and we announce that we'll be releasing a free ebook for you guys!
We take your calls and answer your questions. Let's Truck!
Today we continue our discussion on habits and achieving your goals for the year, and for your business! Now we know a lot of us have read a ton of books, been on webinars, seminars, events, calls- you name it. But what does achieving your goals really come down to? Habits.
There's a huge difference between knowing all the things to do, and actually doing them well. And there's a reason for that.
Kevin gets into the psychology of habits and learning. He talks about how our brains aren't hard-wired, and how we can change the structure of our brain. He also talks about will-power and how we actually have a limited amount of it.
So let's really get into how to train our brains to be the most successful people we can. Let's develop those habits. Let's Truck!
Questions from the AudioRoad
Today we have a bunch of calls. We talk at first about taxes. We know it's a pain, but it's the end of the year, so the time is here for getting your accounting, bookkeeping and reports up to date. There are a ton of Owner Operators out there, without a good accounting system. It's super problematic, and we're teaching you how to change that!
After that, we talk about taking your business to the next level. Learning the basics of investments, building relationships and finding success with your business in this new year!
It's all about "The Business of Trucking". Let's Truck!
Today we have a bunch of calls. We talk at first about money- tracking it, brokers, taxes, the IRS. Then we move on to elevating your 5th wheel, DPF filters, and how to burn less diesel!
