Swedish country singer/songwriter, TJ Leonard got his first guitar from his grandfather, when he was eight; he taught his grandchild to play Swedish folk music and evergreens. Soon, TJ was introduced to pop and blues through his cousin, who was a little bit older and played in a famous Swedish pop band. At eighteen, TJ became lead singer and guitar player in a dance band. Many genres have passed through TJ’s life: Jazz, hard rock, gospel, soul/r&b, but not until country music came along, did it feel like home. Together with Tex Taylor, he started the band, CHESTNUT, in 2010. Later that year, they released their first single, “110% Country,” followed by the EP, American Dream. CHESTNUT played at most of the country festivals in Sweden and Denmark. In both 2012 and 2013, they were nominated in the Swedish Country Music Championships. In late 2013, TJ decided to release his songs under his own name, TJ Leonard.

Sally returns to Don't Tell Mama with “Perspectives”, the latest in her acclaimed signature series of themed programs. She will be accompanied as usual by her Musical Director, the extraordinary Matthew Martin Ward. The series began with "Choices", then it examined "The Way We Are" before exploring "Matters of the Heart". In "Perspectives" she invites us through songs and text to be aware of how we see things, how each of us has a particular, individual point of view which determines what we receive.

Listen to this special edition of the Pan-African Journal hosted by Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of the Pan-African News Wire. The program is dedicated to the National Day of Mourning in honor of the indigenous people of North America who were forcefully removed from their land. In this broadcast we feature our regular PANW reports with dispatches on the arrest of four white men in the shooting of anti-racist demonstrators in Minneapolis where protests over the police killing of Jamar Clark have brought thousands into the streets; African Americans are leading demonstrations in the streets of Chicago as well after the release of a video showing the brutal killing of a teenager by police last year; the shooting down of a Russian fighterjet has intensified tensions between NATO and the government of President Vladimer Putin; and an examination of what is behind the wave of attacks from Paris to Bamako is reviewed. In the second hour we pay tribute to American Indian Movement (AIM) political prisoner Leonard Peltier who has been incarcerated in federal prisons for nearly forty years. Also we look at the hidden history of the Black Seminoles who fought the United States government in a series of wars during the 19th century. Finally we rebroadcast a Global Research Radio report on the US-backed war against the people of Yemen which originally aired earlier in the year.
