    Ava Leigh Stewart; Southeastern Film Festival! Film,Author and much more!

    Ava Leigh Stewart is a prolific artist who specializes in creative development for film, television, and web.  Stewart launched her film career after earning a film degree in London, England. She garnished attention after directing, producing, and writing an award winning short film called Keepers of the Gate in 2006.   In 2011, she directed her feature debut film entitled, South of Southern. She has gone on to direct seven more feature films and countless other media projects.  Stewart is currently working on the feature documentary entitled, Paradise Garden.   She was one of the producers of the recently released feature documentary film, State of Control, which chronicles the humanitarian crisis in Tibet. Leigh founded the Southeastern Film Festival in 2013, second year in progress, we have over 1300 submissions from 44 countries. She believes in supporting independent film, so she offered a 30 day free entry period.  In that time,she received over 40 films from countries that were under sanctions, like North Korea and Iran, where filmmakers don't have credit cards and can't enter festivals to promote their work.   The first event this year took place in Dahlonega, Georgia and we screened 45 films from 24 countries over a long weekend, our next event will be in Nashville in November of 2015. Stewart is  also an author whose work extends from poetry, to fiction and non-fiction novels, as well as screenwriting.

Hailing from Lake Orion, MI., Sydney been singing since the very young age of 5 and started writing when she was 10 years old. She has also enjoyed musical theater and acting over the years, however, singing has been her primary focus. At 12, Sydney Leigh worked with a local producer and recorded her 1st original song. Since then she has been writing, recording and playing live acoustic shows. Sydney Leigh released her debut EP “Crazy Beautiful” this January. It is a four song Pop EP with a strong positive message, incredible vocals and impeccable production. Sydney wrote and recorded with Nolan Lambroza (Sir Nolan), Steve Daly (Tracklacers) and Heidi Rojas in Los Angeles, California. The “Crazy Beautiful” EP is a great example of what Sydney Leigh represents and if you’re not a fan yet you will be!     Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Virginia, Richard Leigh was born into a home filled with domestic violence that ultimately claimed the life of both parents.  Richard became an orphan at the tender age of four.


    Going from family to family, he sought comfort in the form of music and songwriting.  By the time he was ten, he was performing at church and school functions.  By the time he was a teen, he was performing in music venues.  Despite his humble beginnings, Richard went on to write songs for the greatest country music artists in history, including Ray Charles, George Jones, Alabama, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, The Dixie Chicks, and more.  Award trophies include a Grammy, CMA Award, and Richard is one of only ten songwriters in history to ever receive the Song of the Century award.  Arguably his most famous song, Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue, reached #1 on both the Pop and Country charts, earning Richard his first Grammy.     Lymphedema Voice & Activist: Leigh Elke

    Leigh comes forth today talking about what brought her into the passion for the activism for lymphedema rights, what she has done with that time frame, and what her hopes are for the future.


    Leigh was diagnosed at 21 years old with lymphedema/lipedema, PCOS, fibromaylgia, Chronic fatigue syndrome high blood pressure, hypothyroidsm all on the same day. She had gained 230 pounds in one year. After reaching 500 pounds she had gastric bypass surgery, successfully losing 340 pounds in one year. After consulting with Dr Herbst in June 2014 for a "formal" diagnosis of stage 3 lipoedema she has undergone 3 surgeries for lipedema, all reimbursed by BCBS PPO. Additionally she has authorization for 6 total surgeries and 1 tummy apron removal. She is a disabled stay at home mother of 3, hoping to help others in the same situation with a non profit organization and insurance questions/answers.
