    Indie Books #76 (Scott Pinsker)

    in Books

Tune in and join me as I welcome this week's guest.

Author Scott Pinsker joins me this week to talk about his book, The Second Coming: A Love Story

Two men claim to be the Second Coming of Christ. Each claims the other is Satan in disguise. But only one is telling the truth. In "The Second Coming: A Love Story," the devilish new novel by Scott Pinsker, the culture war between Red America and Blue America turns shockingly real when two self-declared saviors appear on earth. The first “messiah” attracts legions of liberal and secular-progressive followers with his message of New Age brotherhood, quickly becoming the darling of the left. The second “messiah” preaches fire-and-brimstone traditional Christianity, gaining a grassroots army of conservative worshipers ready to battle to the death. It’s finally happened: Red America and Blue America are headed for Armageddon! Novelist Scott Pinsker is a Tampa Bay-based celebrity publicist who has also written for FOXNews.com as a marketing expert. As Pinsker tells it: “Late one night I had an unsettling thought: If the Devil truly wanted to con mankind, he wouldn’t have a pitchfork and horns. All those horror movies have it wrong; a pitchfork and horns are bad marketing. Instead, his smartest strategy for activating new followers would be to appear as a holy man – and claim the faith of his target audience. Because if I were Satan’s publicist, that’s what I’d recommend.”

    In the Nest

    in Football

It won't be cozy 9-0 Lambeau as the location for the game to go to the Super Bowl.  Is that enough to send the Packers home on the doorstep of a great season?  Can the Packers master the elements, the crowd noise, and the Seahawks?  Or, are we still a year away?  And miles away from our best chance at returning to the big game?

Michigan History from Detroit to Mackinac Island

    in Travel

Join World Footprints as we explore the Great Lakes State of Michigan and travel from Mackinac City to Detroit.

Our audio tour will start with a visit to the Michigan Historical Center and Museum in Lansing where we will offer a flavor of every place in the State between the lower and upper peninsula.  Museum director Linda Endersby and Michigan History Foundation director Cindy Hales will help us learn about the stories of the people who helped shape Michigan.

Then, one of Michigan's crown jewels is Mackinac Island--Tonya's childhood playground.  Since the late 19th century, the island's Grand Hotel has welcomed celebrities, Presidents and other visitors from around the world.  The Grand Hotel offers the world's longest porch and has been the setting of several movies, including "Somewhere In Time" with Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeve.  Hotel historian and concierge, Bob Tagetz, will take us inside the rich history and traditions of this iconic hotel.

Finally, we will share the legacy of a family deeply intertwined in the history of Michigan and Mackinac Island--the Shepler family--the namesake behind Shepler's Mackinac Island Ferry.  This multi-generational family enterprise has transported legions to and from Mackinac Island between Mackinaw City and St. Ignace.  Chris Shepler will share his family's legacy, their passion for customer service, philanthropy and he'll give Tonya a new experience as Captain.

Visit and connect with World Footprints for the best travel information to any destination.  Let us inspire you.

The Right Attitude - The Berserker Bastion

    in Politics

The "Right Attitude" that we should have regarding our White Race and what needs to be done was presented by Dr. William Pierce in his broadcasts and books:  "The Turner Diaries" and "Hunter".  Dr. Pierce often expressed his honest opinion whenever he talked about the necesssity of "hanging" and "machine-gunning" traitors and enemies to our White Race and White Nation.  He never agreed with the "jew immigration plan" leading to our destruction and did everything he could to resist while informimg others of the coming danger.

Two thousand years ago, when the German Tribes united and massacred the Roman Legions at the Battle of Teutorburg Forrest, that is probably one of the first displays of a "Collective Right Attitude".  When Adolf Hitler and the NSDAP came into power last century, removing the overwhelming influence of jews from German Society, that was definitely the "Right Attitude" to have and another resurgence of those days is much desired.

We can see the same "Right Attitude" in the behavior of Joe Horn and others I will mention this evening.  Hate is key for having the Right Attitude - Nurture Your Hate.

Dorie Greenspan, Baking with Julia Child and James Beard Award Winner

    in Cooking

Welcome Dorie Greenspan! Inducted into the James Beard Foundation Who’s Who of Food and Beverage, DORIE GREENSPAN was tapped by Julia Child to write Baking with Julia. She coauthored Desserts by Pierre Hermé, which won an IACP award. Her Around My French Table was an IACP Cookbook of the Year, and Baking: From My Home to Yours won a James Beard Award.

Baking Chez Moi: Recipes from My Paris Home to Your Home Anywhere by Dorie Greenspan With her groundbreaking bestseller Around My French Table, Dorie Greenspan changed the way we view French food. Now, in Baking Chez Moi, she explores the fascinating world of French desserts, bringing together a charmingly uncomplicated mix of contemporary recipes, including original creations based on traditional and regional specialties and drawing on seasonal ingredients, market visits, and her travels throughout the country.

Like the surprisingly easy chocolate loaf cake speckled with cubes of dark chocolate that have been melted, salted, and frozen, which she adapted from a French chef’s recipe, or the boozy, slow-roasted pineapple, a five-ingredient cinch that she got from her hairdresser, these recipes show the French knack for elegant simplicity. In fact, many are so radically easy that they defy our preconceptions: crackle-topped cream puffs, which are all the rage in Paris; custardy apple squares from Normandy; and an unbaked confection of corn flakes, dried cherries, almonds, and coconut that nearly every French woman knows.

Whether it’s classic lemon-glazed madeleines, a silky caramel tart, or "Les Whoopie Pies," Dorie puts her own creative spin on each dish, guiding us with the friendly, reassuring directions that have won her legions of ardent fans.

LOTLTHECOMFORTZONE Presents Steve Arrington. Debuts New Album' Way Out

    in Music

     LOTLTHECOMFORTZONE Presents Steve Arrington. Debuts

New Album' Way Out  ( 80 - 84 ) Steve Arrington has a framed picture in his basement studio titled “Something in the Water: The Sweet Flavor of Dayton Street Funk.” It’s a montage of the Ohio rust belt town’s musical pioneers. Some details are identifiable at first sight, like the exaggerated pompadour of Leroy “Sugarfoot” Bonner of the Ohio Players. There are legends in first name alone, like Roger and Junie, and two-syllable troupes Heatwave and Lakeside. Overall, it’s a mish-mash of sequins, smiles and afros. Dayton funk was a movement, and in life, much like in the picture, Arrington is in the foreground.

He was a drummer and lead vocalist in another renowned Dayton group, Slave, from 1978 to 1981, and his songs have been introduced to legions of hip-hop, dance and R&B fans through samples by Jay-Z, Jermaine Dupri, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Snoop Dogg, LL Cool J, Mariah Carey, N.W.A., Masters At Work and even on Pitbull’s massive hit “Timber.” Arrington’s music, both with Slave and as a solo artist, helped create the blueprint of the 90’s G-Funk sound
