With medical marijuana approved in more states each year and recreational use legalized in Colorado and Washington, experts are concerned that more teens may use the drug because they believe it's safe.
A Feb. 25 study published in the International Journal of Drug Policy found that about 10 percent of high school students who would otherwise be at a low risk for picking up a pot-smoking habit -- which includes those who don't smoke cigarettes, students with strong religious beliefs and those with non-marijuana smoking friends -- say they would use marijuana if it was legal.
For high school seniors alone, the shift would make up a 5.6 percent absolute increase in lifetime pot use prevalence. About 45.6 percent of high school seniors admitted to smoking pot in the study, meaning that legalization would increase that number to 51.2 percent.
The data was pulled from the Monitoring the Future survey, which was a nationally-representative survey of students in the eighth, 10th and 12th grade. The students were polled from 2007 to 2011, before recreational marijuana use was legalized in Colorado and Washington following the November 2012 elections.

I had the absolute honor and pleasure to indulge in one of the most compelling conversations with author Mahogany Brown who has completed her dynamic book, "My Soul Looks Back And Wonders How I Got Over"
What make Ms. Brown's work so touching is that it doesn't contain any false superficial facades as it shoots straight from the hip about the many phases and levels of her existence grabbing life by the horns and letting the chips fall as they may.
Mahogany bares her soul in the bravest manner and places her life up as a sacrificial lamb in order to free those brothers and sisters from those same shackles that caused her to deal with a wide range of the demons that are so ready to become a part of ones life when a person appears to be down.

Prostitution is the business or practice of engaging in sexual relations in exchange for payment or some other benefit. Prostitution is sometimes described as commercial sex. A person who works in this field is called a prostitute, and is a kind of sex worker. Prostitution is one of the branches of the sex industry. The legal status of prostitution varies from country to country, from being permissible but unregulated, to an enforced or unenforced crime or to a regulated profession. Prostitution is sometimes also referred to as "the world's oldest profession". Estimates place the annual revenue generated by prostitution worldwide to be over $100 billion. Prostitution occurs in a variety of forms. Brothels are establishments specifically dedicated to prostitution. In escort prostitution, the act may take place at the client's residence or hotel room (referred to as out-call), or at the escort's residence or a hotel room rented for the occasion by the escort (in-call). Another form is street prostitution. Although the majority of prostitutes are female with male clients, there are also gay male prostitutes, lesbian prostitutes, and heterosexual male prostitutes. Sex tourism refers to traveling to engage in sexual relations with prostitutes. Some rich clients may pay for long-term contracts that may last for years.
Way too often we look at human trafficking as something that only happens to people from countries outside of America. We've seen some of the headlines about some Asian, European or Latino woman being kidnapped from their home involuntarily and sold or forced into prostitution but it goes much deeper than that.
Says Jaye of The Jaye Today Show :
Trafficking is every where. If you buy it may be in your closet. Sometimes we call the victims prostitutes. Many of them go to school with your children. God forbid if it is your child. Trafficking is not just sex; there is a growing demand for organ harvesting. Yes they are cutting up children for parts to be used for transplants for people who can pay top dollar and don't want to be placed on a waiting list. You may think that this is not your problem, until your child comes up missing. This could explain a lot about some of our youth who come up missing and are never found.
This is a very real and serious issue that hits closer to home than most of us give it credit for.
Listen to this show and let Jaye break it down for you and explain how www.covertangels.com is working to put an end to these horrors.

Many say marijuana (or "dope" if you grew up in the '70's!) is safe, is no different than smoking cigarettes, and should be legalized. At least one state has already legalized it. Cary Quashen, founder and director of ACTION Family Counseling Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers joins Joe to discuss. Tune in!
Have you had your healthy dose of reality lately?
There are always at least two sides to every story. Have you ever wondered how someone, who saw the same thing you did, walked away telling a vastly different story? Which version was correct? Which one was the REAL story? Actually, both are! It’s just a matter of perspective.
Joe takes the issues… especially the controversial issues (politics, prejudice, religion, illegal immigration)… and brings in people from different sides to share their viewpoint. This is definitely not a fluff piece. And while no one is attacked, the questions are hard-hitting.
But the conversation is always respectful and you’re sure to learn something new, even if you don’t agree!
If you’ve always wondered how the “other side” thinks and how they’ve arrived at their “stand”, then this is the show for you!
It’s not the right side, it’s not the wrong side, but the REAL side of the issues!
