REGGAE ROUND TABLE CHAT: Accounting & Legal Issues-Things You MUST Know music 101

An Account Manager in the music industry is more senior than an account executive. They will make more strategic business decisions. In the music industry they may be responsible for a band or solo artist, a record label or perhaps an agency, publication, music TV or digital music service. The Account Manager will likely be responsible for a portfolio of clients or brands.http://us.music-jobs.com/jobtypes/account-manager-jobs-413282.php

The growth of ancillary revenue streams for artists that are not related to music are critically important, such as sponsorships/endorsements ,opportunities in television, book publishing, and creative forms of merchandising. The music industry, which began as a product-based business, has quickly evolved into a service-based business over the past several years despite the fact that the U.S. Copyright Act and other laws do not currently support the transformations. Also examined are arrangements between record companies and artists; production deals, producer agreements and other legal and business issues that arise in the recording studio; trademark and rights of publicity; topics and agreements relating to music publishing rights; monetizing downloads and subscription services; and discussions pertaining to fans, brands, social networking sites, and cultural communities as they affect music, copyrights, and merchandising in a global music market.

THE NEW POLITICS OF THE INTERNET: EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED

    in Legal

CAN INTERNET ACTIVISIM TURN INTO A REAL POLITICAL MOVEMENT?

WHEN dozens of countries refused to sign a new global treaty on internet governance in late 2012, a wide range of activists rejoiced. They saw the treaty, crafted under the auspices of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), as giving governments pernicious powers to meddle with and censor the internet. For months groups with names like Access Now and Fight for the Future had campaigned against the treaty. Their lobbying was sometimes hyperbolic. But it was also part of the reason the treaty was rejected by many countries, including America, and thus in effect rendered void.

The success at the ITU conference in Dubai capped a big year for online activists. In January they helped defeat Hollywood-sponsored anti-piracy legislation, best known by the acronym SOPA, in America’s Congress. A month later, in Europe, they took on ACTA, an obscure international treaty which, in seeking to enforce intellectual-property rights, paid little heed to free speech and privacy. In Brazil they got closer than many would have believed possible to securing a ground-breaking internet bill of rights, the “Marco Civil da Internet”. In Pakistan they helped to delay, perhaps permanently, plans for a national firewall, and in the Philippines they campaigned against a cybercrime law the Supreme Court later put on hold.

    THE NEW GREEN

Debate and dissent over the issues raised by the spread of information technology are not new. In the 1990s civil-liberties groups, including the pioneering Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), campaigned against the Communications Decency Act, part of which was eventually overturned by America’s Supreme Court.

Legal Issues with the New Tenure Law

    in Education

Since the 1920’s teacher tenure has been part of New Jersey’s education system and changed only slight until August of 2012 when TEACH-NJ was signed into law.  This law dramatically changed the process for acquiring tenure as well as how tenure charges are filed.  While most school administrators and school board members support the reform they need to be aware of the provisions of the law and its impact on their personnel decisions.  Please join host Ray Pinney as he discusses legal issues in teacher tenure with school board attorney John Geppert, Jr. of the law firm of Schwartz, Simon, Edelstein and Celso.

    in Self Help

Life's Issues with Lloyd Rosen and his guest Robert Tremblay & Maxwell Ivey:

Robert Tremblay has been a Management Trainer nationally for 18 years before being diagnosed terminal and surviving after a near death experience that changed my life. Prior I was in Law Enforcement with my last position being named "the youngest chief of police in the country." I left Law Enforcement after various injuries and disillusionment after arresting the entire board of selectman and road agent in my town for conspiracy. Prior to this I was a decorated US Army Veteran. I have been a national Trainer and accredited speaker in sales management and spent many years traveling the country teaching. After my experience I have set a course on writing a book due out in the spring of 15 called "Twenty Seconds". I plan on advocating for my disease and starting a foundation to give back to various charities that assited me during my illness.

Maxwell Ivey a 48 year old totally blind gentleman who grew up in a family of carnival owners. All I ever wanted to do was to continue in my father’s and grandfather’s footsteps and be part of the family business. As you can tell by reading this that isn’t where I ended up. I did help in the business over the years, but couldn’t sustain it after the early death of my father from lung cancer. I then turned to helping people sell their amusement equipment. I do that on my other site the midway marketplace.

    in Politics Progressive

We'll cover the implications not only for Kosilek but also for current or future incarcerated transgender inmates in Massachusetts. Levi may also give us some perspective on the next action, as in whether the case might move to the Supreme Court.
