In the "We should really be watching Jacob deGrom instead" edition, Jeffrey and Greg made the mistake of scheduling their host segments while Jacob deGrom was breaking records and stuff. So get ready for short and disjointed commentary on the Mets dashed playoff dreams, stompgate, and how being a Mets fan is kind of icky now. Fortunately we have a couple guests to do the heavy lifting. First, Jay Jaffe of SI.com talks about various Mets Hall of Fame cases. When will Mike Piazza get in? Will David Wright get in? And is there any hope for John Olerud? Then, Jason Wojciechowski of Beaneball and Baseball Prospectus is here to discuss the Castergine lawsuit in more lawyerly detail. And of course, we wrap things up with your e-mails, wherein Jeffrey threatens to quit #MetsTwitter again.

Tonight we discuss zoning – the good, bad, and the political. On June 02, 2014, the Supreme Court of Georgia heard oral arguments in the case of City of Brookhaven v. Trop. Inc., on whether or not the Pink Pony Adult Club could continue on with regular business in light of an ordinance passed just one month after the inception of the City of Brookhaven. The ordinance disallowed adult clubs to serve alcohol alongside nude dancing. Ironically, even though Brookhaven is trying to get rid of the Pink Pony now, it may never have been allowed to incorporate under Georgia law without the Pink Pony due to the $100,000+ that the Pink Pony pays to the City due to various licenses it has to maintain. Join Bennet and Sarah as they discuss zoning laws and how they can be used for and against the citizens of various neighborhoods.

Much of the work of advancing women in the legal workplace falls on the shoulders of women. Most firms have women’s initiatives run by and for women, and these initiatives have great value. But they are not changing the norms, attitudes and biases that govern law firm advancement, leadership and rewards. Little significant change is possible at the top of law firms, where it really counts, unless those with power – men – take the lead and are accountable for it.
