Chronic stress creates a chemical imbalance in the brain that prompts some to turn to drugs and alcohol to provide the endorphins necessary to create inner calm and tranquility. Unfortunately, drug addiction and alcoholism has been criminalized rather than treated as a health issue. The question is, can this reliance on other substances to correct the chemical imbalance created by stress be a hereditary tendancy? What if chronic stress has been a way of life for so many generations in your family that you are now born without the capacity to produce the necessary endorphins to enable you to cope with stress without a mental breakdown? Dr. Kenneth Nave, author of A Season of Afflictions, shares his research and discovery about how the stress of injustice, racial inequality, and daily threats to ones well being can, over time, have an effect on ones genes. What are we producing in our children? Is there a reason why the violence among youth has escalated? Is it hereditary or learned behavior? How do we reverse this trend? Dr. Nave shares his findings and introduces his upcoming book which exposes some shocking developments
Learned optimism is the idea in positive psychology that a talent for joy, like any other, can be cultivated. It is contrasted with learnedhelplessness. Learning optimism is done by consciously challenging any negative self talk.
Martin Seligman’s came to the concept of learned optimism through a scientific study of learned helplessness, the idea that a certain reoccurring negative event is out of the person's control. As he was performing tests to study helplessness further, he began to wonder why some people resisted helplessness-conditioning. He noticed that, while some subjects blamed themselves for negative outcomes, others blamed the experiment for setting them up to fail.
Seligman shifted his focus to attempting to discover what it is that keeps some people from ever becoming helpless. The answer was optimism. Using his knowledge about condition people to be helpless in the lab, he shifted his focus to conditioning people to be optimists. The result of these experiments led to defining the processes of learning optimism.

In this episode of ODWIRA, we continue our series on the Zep Tepi - the creation of the world. The cosmology of Khanit and Kamit (Nubia and Egypt) delineates the process whereby the world was created by Amenet and Amen (Nyamewaa and Nyame in Akan) - The Great Mother and Great Father Who comprise the Supreme Being. We examine Men Nefer.
The whites and their offspring have put forward the false notion that there were differing and 'competing' cosmologies in ancient Kamit based on different groups of people at different times having disparate beliefs. This is totally inaccurate. The various creation accounts found in the different centers of ritual (temples) in ancient Kamit and Khanit reference different aspects and stages of the unfolding of Creation. Thus, the accounts of Creation associated with Ta Apet, Khemenu, Men Nefer and Annu (Thebes, Hermopolis, Memphis and Heliopolis) detail the orderly unfolding of the Created Universe governed by specific Abosom (Deities) who govern their respective stages.
Misinformed Afurakanu/Afuraitkaitnut (Africans~Black People) embrace the pseudo-analysis published by the whites and their offspring and have therefore perpetuated this misinformation. Moreover, they have also sought to apply this pseudo-analysis to the various cultures of Afuraka/Afuraitkait (Africa). This is based on a lack of facility with the actual Abosom (Orisha, Vodou, Arusi, Ntorou/Ntorotu) - Deities - Who govern Creation. The people of Kamit and Khanit worshipped and learned directly from the same Abosom that we worship and learn directly from today. Ritual practice is thus key to understanding cosmology.

I don’t know how this idea that men won’t wait for sex came about, but on behalf of men everywhere, I’d like to thank the creator. The greatest trick man ever pulled was making women think men will not wait 90 days or whatever arbitrary amount of days. In 2012, it’s clear men don’t have to wait for sex. However, just because they don’t have to doesn’t mean they won’t. This scenario is the equivalent of saying a child won’t wait for dinner because you offered him dessert. The child ate the dessert because you offered it to him. Had he no other choice, I assure you he would have waited patiently for dinner. He might have fussed, whined, and even cried but that is not a logical reason to reward this spoiled child’s behavior. This is the state of affairs between men and women. Women are offering up their dessert before dinner, and when the man leaves, they declare men aren’t willing to wait instead of accepting maybe it’s because you spoiled his appetite. Once upon a time, like almost a whole generation ago, it was traditionally accepted men and women would not have premarital relations. Unbelievably, the world didn’t end. Women didn’t offer up the cookies and men waited for dinner. It was that simple.
Since the end of that golden age, men no longer have to wait for sex. In fact, a number of women believe men will not wait even if they wanted them to. Therefore, they offer it up to him as soon as possible to satisfy an inaccurate assumption. Sex has become like a bank that gives away money to keep customers. Yes, such a strategy will keep customers it will also attract thieves.

I've been a game show winner, a produced screenwriter, international traveler and now self-published author and radio talk show host. After losing my mom at the age of 15, I learned that tomorrow isn't guaranteed and if I wanted to live, I couldn't wait until I graduated, or until I found the perfect job or the perfect man (still looking for both of those), or until I reached retirement age. If I wanted to live, I had to do it now ... right now.
So I have taken advantage of the opportunities that have presented themselves to me and when there were no opportunities, I've made them. As a result, I've lived a life with very few regrets.
I started Get It Together Girl! to help women of all ages realize that you can live life on your terms and you can attain your definition of happiness and success; you just have to be willing to step out of your comfort zone and take a chance.
My concept is a simple one: start where you are, use what you have and you can get what you want.
