Eisenhower said "I hate war as only those who have live it can. I have seen its brutality, its futility, its stupidity." Those who have seen the face of war know best how to support the troops: Keep them from being used to fight war for corporate Empire.Retired Naval Commander Leah Bolger is not relaxing in her retirement. She continues to serve her country by working to end war. On Tuesday October 15 at 2 PM PST/ 5 PM EST, she will share her thoughts on the morality of modern war, from pre-emptive attacks to drone warare to the use of former foes as mercenaries to fight wars the American people no longer have the stomach to support with their own blood and treasure. This show will be rebroadcast on October 26 at 9 AM PST/ 12 PM EST on the Star Com Radio network.Take Back America for the People is an educational nonprofit whose mission is to educate the American public on true costs of corporate control of the US government.Know the truth and the truth will set us free.
On June 2 our guest was Leah Bolger, former naval Commander and recently elected Board President of Veterans for Peace.
We discussed Leah's journey from career officer to career peace activist, her work for Veterans for Peace and the many projects VFP is engaged in to educate the public about the costs of war, hold the US government accountable for its international war crimes, work for justice for veterans and other victims of war and to abolish war as an instrument of national policy.
Leah has had many fascinating experiences in her work for VFP, including being arrested with some of the mostnotable antiwar activists in the US. Having been at the center of the action for years, her new position at a time of revolutionary change assures that she will play an important role in the newly resurgent antiwar movement.
We also heard from Vietnam War veteran Paul Winger about his campaign for the Arizona legislature and his plans to use the public financing to focus on his pledge to amend the constitution to ban all special interest money from elections. Establishing democracy in the US is the first step to crushing the corporatocracy and ending war in the world.
SFPI Radio is the international talk show designed to allow those struggling for social justice around the world to talk to each other about how we can support efforts to promote justice, democracy and peace in every nation.
Retired Naval Commander Leah Bolger who is a peace activist and the President of Veterans For Peace, interrupted a public hearing of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, commonly known as the Super Committee on October 26th, 2011 . Psychologist Leah Gordon has a successful business and a perfect family life with her husband and two beautiful children. She's on top of the world after working hard to get there. But one night when everything changes, her entire world comes crashing down.
Betrayed and hurt beyond belief, Leah suddenly finds herself embroiled in a bitter divorce. Having nowhere else to turn, Leah accepts an invitation to church from her beloved grandmother and returns to her first true love, Jesus Christ. As she puts her faith and trust in God, Leah finds the strength to move on.
Leah's world is shaken again when she meets Graye Barrington, a deacon and youth minister at her church. Graye is unlike any man she has ever known. The instant connection she feels with Graye is frightening in its intensity, and she shies away from feelings she doesn't understand. Leah can see that Graye is a man of God, but she knows it's too soon to begin another relationship. She isn't sure she will ever love again.
When Graye makes it known that he's not looking for a fling and that he wants a serious commitment, Leah struggles with her feelings for him. She must soon confront her conflicted feelings and make a decision that will change her life forever. Will Leah find true happiness with Graye? Or will Graye find that Loving Leah leads only to a broken heart?
