On today's show, I read several articles that have to do with the importance of the Latino vote and the way that politicos are attempting to address it and some commentary on that subject by Ruben Navarrette and my own commentary. Yes, there are GOP political types trying to reach out to Latinos by speaking Spanish here and there but it will require much more than a few words in Spanish to correct their histories of blatant anti-Latino agenda. However, I also think it is morally incorrect to utilize ethnicity as a political tool. For example, in the case of NM Governor Martinez was accused of "Not having a Latino Heart." That is blatant racism to equate ones ethnicity with a political movement. That is un-Christian and immoral. I also read a piece describing the absurdity of using the Constitution as the basis for support of radical secularism. Leon Pannetta, former CIA director, says he knew the Benghazi attack was an act of terrorism. Finally, I mention that soon the Bigelow inflatable module will soon be mounted on the ISS for testing. Good news for our space program. LatinoTalk Texas is America's only daily Independent Political Analysis from the Latino perspective.
Census figures indicate growing numbers of Latino citizens, based on new births and new immigrants. On issues such as immigration reform, multilingual education and minority set aside programs for contractors, African Americans and Latinos often find themselves pitted against each other as rivals for jobs, contracts and economic resources. Among men, both groups are often the recipients of racial profiling and media stereotyping as criminals. There are white gangs as well as African American and Latino gangs, yet when issues of gang violence are addressed white males are not the targets of police crackdowns, black and Latino males are. Chicago Mayoral candidates Jesus "Chuy" Garcia and William "Dock" Walls address the relationship between African Americans and Latinos and how it will affect this year's election.
Some positive immigration issue news from UT Austin and some semi-good news from Washington on the same topic. The rest of the show is about the Culture of Death and their manifestations in the political world. UT systems Chancellor, McCraven publicly opposed efforts to end state level tuition for undocumented youth in Texas. In Washington, a Senator from Maine offered a compromise bill to leave in place Obama executive orders from 2012 but still overturn actions from 2014. Republicans are trying to unfund the Dept. of Homeland Security which is the exact opposite of the "rule of law." I read several articles that discuss the importance of religion and the news derived from that. Pope Francis who will visit the US in Sept wrote to a Father in Arizona who leads young people who run a soup kitchen in Nogales, Sonora, for the benefit of migrants. The Holy Father supports them and encourages them. There is some rumor the Pope will visit the Mexico border to examine the plight of migrants. In other news, Pope Francis, while in America will speak at the UN and will also be the first Pope to address a joint session of Congress. Archbishop Charles Chaput recently spoke at Brigham Young University and stated that it was our duty as religious persons to speak up about it. I comment that is one reason I produce this show. I read an article about the President's remarks at the recent prayer breakfast and frankly I am STUNNED at his remarks! He, in effect, said, that because some much tragedy has been done in the name of Christ that we Christians should not be so quick to judge those attacking Christians. During today's show, I also comment that I am concerned that soon the Libertarian point of view on many social issues will soon come out and the Culture of Life agenda will suffer for it because Libertarians who support efforts against abortion will not defend efforts against euthanasia, drug use, homosexual marriage and so on.
In a recent speech at the Congresional Hispanic Caucus Insititute's gala, President Obama asked Latinos to "keep believing" (In immigration reform). Is the message resonating with U.S. Latino voters after six years? Join us as we discuss this with special guest, Blanca Hernandez, who attended the gala and was escorted from the even for asking Obama about his lack of administrative action on immigration. Tonight we will be discussing News, Sports, Entertainment and our main topic. Why do Dark Skin Latinos not consider themselves black? We all realize that amongst African Americans there has always been a Dark Skin vs Light Skin rift. However the same plight seems to also consume Latinos as well. Join us as we delve into this question. Do Dark Skin Latinos readily reject their African heritage and if so why? Is it self hate or something else?
LatinoTalk Texas is news, issues and interviews important to Latinos in America. Guest Andy Bravo calls in to discuss the issues today. Today, I discuss the vast differences in the Culture of Life and its nemesis, the Culture of Death also known as the Culture of Anti-Life or the Culture of New Morality of Immorality. I introduce this topic as being important in these days of Lent especially for Latinos who are mostly Catholic. Today, I compare the issues of Abortion, Homosexual marriage and euthanasia as being examples of the new morality of immorality. For example, Homosexuality is clearly immoral but by seeking through the courts under the pretense of "Equal Protection under the Law" to nullify enumerable state laws the set the guidelines for the state to sanction marriages the homosexual community hopes to gain such sanctions and make their relationships "normal" and part of a new morality. In other words they have sought to cast anyone who disagrees with them as a bigot and immoral themselves for defend their own moral standings. Thus, I point out the "New Morality of Immorality" which is not unrelated to other machinations of the culture of death or anti-life which also favors abortion on demand and euthanasia. How many cultures have practiced these horrific and immoral behaviors? Nazi Germany, Stalinist Russia, America in the days of the Indian Wars and many more. Today, in America, as I read there are expanding efforts to promote euthanasia which my caller, Andy Bravo mistook for End of Life Palliative care. That is why I discuss these issues so that Latinos in America will be well informed.
